If you were traveling from Canada to visit Japan and had 1 full day to ship for used handhelds and PS4 stuff, which store locations would you definitely hit?
@RetroReWire2 сағат бұрын
I’d hit up as many shops as possible. Aim to be at the first store right at opening. Locations are a tough one as stock is always changing. It usually comes down to luck, or destiny. PS4 stuff is widely available. Handhelds can get pricey, however. The Kanto region is a solid hunting ground. Cheers!

Hard offs used to be gems some years ago, but the popularity of the retro game hunting videos saturated on KZbin have made these tourist spots unfortunately thus ballooning the prices

You are alive! Thanks God, it’s great to see other videos of your amazing channel JJ. How did you learn Japanese in order to play import titles?
@RetroReWire2 күн бұрын
A lot of the games I like don’t require much Japanese to play or understand. Moreover, newer games I play typically have full ENG support. Many wards throughout Japan offer free Japanese lessons. I attend these from time to time. Cheers!

In general, do you see that game prices in physical stores are cheaper than online auctions like Yahoo or similar sites?
@RetroReWire4 күн бұрын
Generally speaking yes, online will have lower prices than stores. But every now and then you will find a crazy good deal in stores. Moreover, some of the games in the Book OFF showcases are also listed on Yahoo at the same price points. Cheers!
@WhatsOnMyShelf4 күн бұрын
@@RetroReWire That's wild. My guess is that there would be small stores located in the middle of nowhere with great finds that haven't had prices updated in a while. There are some things that I'd like to find but online searching is difficult, even things that I would think are more common like the PSP cradle remote PSP-S350. I always figured that if I were in Japan, I would stumble across these items much easier. Do you ever find older toys and promo items for sale?
@RetroReWire4 күн бұрын
Some rural franchise stores will sometimes have equal or higher prices than Akiba! Old mom and pop toy shops sometimes have some retro gaming treasure at decent deals. I would love the PSP cradle setup. I can't recall the last time I've seen it in stores. It's been a long while for sure. I don't pay much attention to older toy collectibles, and I rarely see old promo items for sale.
@WhatsOnMyShelf5 күн бұрын
2:56 From every vid I've seen of shopping in Asian country game stores, any US import item like those Game Boy games are very expensive, but that's how it goes when it comes to paying for imports.
@RetroReWire4 күн бұрын
I've had a pretty good experience with NA imports in Japan. Specifically with software for consoles like PS3, 360, PS1, Xbox One, Switch and PS4. In the recent Ojamakan Kobe video, I show a NA copy of Sunset Overdrive priced at ¥550. Some places will jack up the prices, however. Stay frosty out there, cheers!

Crazy amounts of hardware at this store. Maybe because they're overpricing much of it. That's a good price for Dynamite Headdy. Would've grabbed that for sure. And the Saturn Twin Stick just because I'm a sucker for weird gimmicky controllers. Storing them all is a bitch though. I think there's only a handful of games that support that stick.
