There are judges in the start car that follow the race start to finish. There are also judges posted thru out the race. The horse may have been throwing in a few extra steps indicating an impending break and the driver may have been trying to hold him together. Second place is better than a disqualify.

4 was 1-9 pays 2.10-2.20 That means he was tons the best here, This looked like it was a maiden race, no one whipping a lot, just teaching their horses to race. 2 likely could have won but why push him hard against a 1-9 shot and get him outta the maiden races. This was not a stiff job, It was more like just teaching a horse to race.

Anybody that loses a bet puts the blame on the driver not saying that there is not bad people in the game but for the most part they wanna win and earn money and respect from their owners. We can blame others cuz we don't like the result. If you think that you are being cheated why do you return to the track because you are addicted. They used to say the fastest 2 minutes in sports now it's the fastest 1:50 in sports still a helluva experience if you ever drove a horse you would be hooked adrenaline rush for sure

My father had the second best horse at a county fair track in Michigan years ago some of the young guys came to dad and said this is Art's last race in his life we are going to let him win we will let you finish second dad said no I will not be involved in race fixing mind you there was no betting. Well long story short dad finished 5th just getting his entry fee back. I said dad if you had agreed you would have gotten 25 percent of the purse damn stubborn Irish man but I respect his decision all horseman looked up to him

Yonkers had a huge fixed race and Herve Fillion and others got suspended. The driver obviously fixed the race by looking back and not urging his horse.In 1995, Filion and fellow drivers Frederick Grant and David Ingraham were accused of grand larceny and conspiracy for allegedly fixing races at Yonkers Raceway. The charges were dismissed in 2000 when the three drivers acknowledged they failed to file state tax returns in 1996. A fourth driver, Darron Ryder, pleaded guilty in 1996 to a charge of tampering with a sports contest. Bookmaker Daniel Kramer, alleged to be the mastermind, pleaded guilty to gambling-related charges in 1996 and agreed to a $2 million settlement with the New York attorney general’s office.

Why the fuck is the driver not pulling up his horse? Seriously what purpose does it serve to continue riding around the track when there are loose horses and drivers injured? I really hope the driver was reprimanded and fined for their stupidity.
@anubias_twist

Because he had to. He has to finish the race or he'd be fined, although this will probably be listed as no contest. What do you want him to do, pull up and stop the other horses? He can't. Research more on racing before making a stupid comment.

At Greenwood and Mohawk it was a given when a horse dropped down in the claimers it would always be a stiff the first time the horse dropped in the claimers. Novice bettors lost the maximum amount of money this way.

I must have seen or bet on over 50,000 races where the chalk horses got stiffed. Dave Wall and Doug Brown were the two kings of the stiff job. Ron Waples senior always stiffed his own horses every other week but always went with a horse coming in from another track. Waples made me millions, the imbeciles betting at Greenwood and Mohawk in all the years never figured it out.

I'm the "Master of the Maidens" ifs there's a better handicapper alive on Maiden races I'd like to know who it is because I've yet to meet this person. The most money you'll make will always be on the maiden races if you know breeding lines, what breeding works and what breeding doesn't, sizing up the horse by looks and watching the owner in the winner's circle. I considered writing books on it. Breeding has to go back countless generations back to the 1940's on the side of the broodmare for a horse to be a sure bet against the odds he or she will go off at.

Easy to see here in the comments section that many here ever drove Standardbreds for a living, I did before retiring. This race was not stiffed. If there was an infraction the driver would have been called into the Presiding Judge and queried. Some horses respond to the whip, others will back up in your face, others high lining, which is a technique some trainers prefer to goad a horse on. You might find 1 in over a thousand races, nowadays, are stiffed. Ask a politician if when voting on a 1000 "Bills" up for a vote if they ever capitulated.

You are right some you can't hit .I got a catch drive at an amateur track in New Jersey . I asked the trainer if i could rough her up he said sure . I had plenty of horse pulled her she went nowhere gave her a shot with the whip and she dug her toes in . I had by that time had over 100 drives . When i told people i worked in Harness racing the first thing i was asked are they fixed . you are absolutely right if the judges suspected anything that guy would have been called in as soon as he got back into paddock. Where did you race ?

Mohawk is becoming terrible. The amount of chalk that's been winning lately is brutal and Mohawk fans say " the horse was revved to go" or "horse has been in good form over the last month". Well obviously Einstein, when you're putting a horse that has run for $35,000 and put it in a class of bottom feeders who run for $8,000, ya it'll go off at 1/5 or 1/9 and win like a champion.
@parkerbohnn
@parkerbohnn 3 жыл бұрын
@@paolo197536 You should have seen it before they put the slot machines in. It was like most of the races were all crooked. Countless times the drivers were suspended for "fixing" triactor races back in the 1980's. Doug Brown and Dave Wall were the two kingpins for stiffing horses. Ron Waples senior went every other week with his own horses so in theory he stiffed all his own horses every other week running all of them out of the money. Waples always went with horses coming in from another track, he never stiffed any of those drives.
