This just happened to my wife’s 2018 MKZ today. She found your video while I was driving to her. I held the shift linkage on with a long flathead screwdriver so she could put it into reverse. Then I held it again to put into drive just so we could get it home. I will purchase the part today! Saved us money on a tow and a repair. Thank you!
@GFK6022 ай бұрын
Called one local Ford dealer and they told me I had to purchase the whole shifter cable for $166! Called another dealer and the part was $4.34 PN# KV6Z-7K340-A. The cap, if needed was $4.55 PN# DG9Z-7S004-A. $9.65 total after tax!

I need to do a set for my car also, what thickness of steel did you use for the brackets?
@mdcobra0013 ай бұрын
I used 1-1/2 x 1/8 flat bar stock. Need a 4’ piece for the bottom bars and a 3’ piece for the top cross bars per side.
@HicksGarage3 ай бұрын
@@mdcobra001 that's strong enough to hold the seat in place in an accident? Couldn't you have run the cross bars under to save the 1/8 so it didn't feel up so high?
@mdcobra0013 ай бұрын
Not sure about accident durability. I hope I never find out. I suppose putting some gussets in place would help. I suppose you could put the cross bars on the bottom however the seat would’ve needed to be moved to one side and the legs down would need to be moved. The way the seats fit, they are down as far as I see feasible.

Can I just tap the bar end weight from the start if I don’t have a welder? Why do you leave them 3/8th out if you’re pushing the grip flush? Are those Rizoma mirrors? Thanks for the video.
@mdcobra0015 ай бұрын
Hi, I suppose you could. I just wanted to drill and tap a nice square hole. I left them out 3/8 so that they would stick out a little past the end of the grip. The grip goes back in the same spot. I suppose you could stack washers up to make up the difference. The only one that is important is the throttle. Be sure to use lots of oil and patience when drilling and tapping. As far as the mirrors I used, I don’t remember. The bike fell onto the side of my trailer and broke one of them so I replaced them with a much better mirror. I’ll post a link later. Thanks for your comment! A glad you enjoyed the video!

Happened to our 2017 MKC last summer. Got back in car and would not shift. I left the car in the parking lot overnight and got a ride home. The Ford dealer told me what the problem probably was. Ended up fixing it in the parking lot and drove home the next day. Car had around 70,000 miles on it. I ended up getting a spare bushing and put it in those storage compartments near the spare tire. How common is this and what mileage/age is this item failing?

Aww, thanks man! You saved me a ton of money! I ordered the bushing from Amazon for $11 and had it on hand but get this, the tow truck driver fixed it on the spot for me, as he had to try to get my vehicle in neutral anyway to tow it. He took it all apart in like 10 mins, popped in the bushing and it was fixed! No need for the tow to the dealership to get it fixed! Literally, when does that happen! He said he’s had to do this so many times! I def tipped him well for swift and helpful services.

Excellent. I had clearance issues with my setup too on my 97. Original owner had Flowmasters welded to the factory tailpipes and the mufflers were in even worse shape than yours. I put fresh Flowmasters in and paired them with SR tailpipes but the fitment is garbage. I can’t get the pipes to hang without touching something. The over axle part touches the frame and the drivers side touches the metal edge of the gas tank and it rattles so much when starting from a stop. 😢

I also left a comment on your first video about this Formula and it disappeared. 😢 Anyways.....how cool is it to see it running and moving under it's own power after getting dragged out of the woods? I will follow this. Curious as to what your performance goals are. I run a 350P in my 67 Firebird. A 400 gives a higher ceiling, but a 350P will provide all of the spirited street driving you need - unless your "street" driving is down in OKC with the 405 crew. Love the disco birds!

I love 2nd gen Formulas! I've owned a 78 and a 73, both 400 cars. As far as Formula hoods go, 76 is my favorite: not so audacious as the 70-75, but more aggressive than the 77+. I'll be excited to see you bring this one back.

Congrats on your Formula! As a 1976 formula owner myself I wanted to inform you the downfall of a 1976. You talked about a stroker kit? look into what Pontiac block you own, if it is a 557 block you wont be able to add to much power 400hp limit, with a Butler 557 block 500hp max! I just added Holley EFI to mine. Good luck with your build, next to the 70-73, I think the 1976 is the best looking of the 2nd gens.

Charles, thanks for watching! My goal was to make 400-425hp. How do I tell if it’s a 557 block. It has a code on the block by the water pump it has a YR on it along with some numbers below it. I’m all new to this platform. Thanks again
@MotorcityMadman-l7b Жыл бұрын
@@mdcobra001 unfortunately the number is on the passenger side by the firewall under the head. Everything I read, do not go over 400hp with a stock block. Butler somehow can get you to 500hp the most on that block. I have not looked into it. I am pulling the original motor/trans and have another 400 with a turbo 400 trans. Good luck on you Formula, I will be watching. Sorry for scaring you, only 400's have a 557 block! Bad information from me!!!! you are golden!
