Every time someone clear cuts a lot here to build an American style home in the the rainforest of Kilauea, our neighborhood gets a little quieter.

I was in an old music shop when i visited kona and they had a record player and vinyls that the store owner encouraged we could play some vinyls. I threw on melveen’s vinyl not knowing who she was and absolutely loved her voice. Had to look her up right after..instantly a favorite of mine.

We love these guys. Met them in 2008 and have been big fans since. Mileva, my wife has been fighting cancer since March of 2024. Played the PBS video tonight and the music lifted her up. Bobby, Kahi and Richie we hope to come back to your beautiful island and enjoy the culture, people and see you again if her health permits. Thanks for the music. Eugene and Mileva your friends from New Hampshire

I dislike mosquitoes
@JakeGrajewski16 сағат бұрын
The mosquito origin was mostly wrong.. It was missionaries, most likely Mormon due to the years they were introduced. These missionaries got mad that the whalers were giving natives alcohol in trade for goods. So the missionaries brought in mosquito larva and released them where the whalers made port to get the whalers to leave... At least this is the story I have heard from locals/guides I trust. So indirectly the whalers were involved but not really to blame. Look at all the alcohol all over the islands, so definitely not worth it 🤦

This is my Great Aunty!! I'm from Orange County California and moved to Maui this past Sept (I'm in OC at the moment for Christmas at my parents etc). So overjoyed to connect more with my culture and meet more of those who loved my Aunty's music. I'm looking forward to seeing what is going to happen in the future for me on the islands. Feel free to reach out to me with any comments. Melekelikimaka 2024 everyone. 🎄🙏💚❤🌊🌺🤙🙏

Thank you for protecting turtles! I just returned from Maui, and saw two spots where turtles were disturbed by people. One was Turtles resting station just next to Kihei Boat landing, where despite the signs people were walking all over, picking up seashells, snorkelling, and even laying on the sand sun bathing. And the other one was Ulua beach, where dozens of snorkellers swim around the rocks, and someone told me you can see sleeping baby turtles. Do baby turtles need sunscreen covered crowed around? I doubt that benefits them. And besides turtles could be perfectly visible right from the shore. It would be good if something could be done about it. Thank you for your work!
