@CharlieFerer
@CharlieFerer Ай бұрын
Great question and the answer is for the D! class (front disc only) for vintage racing are years 1984-1986. The 1986 is a better bike than the 1985 and 1984 so I try to stay on just years that are best for racing. For example 1981-1983 the 1983 bikes are a better bike and retain value better. A 1986 is worth more resale value than a 1984 or a 1986. Same with a 1981 or 1982 bike compared to a 1983 bike. You would be better racing a 1983 CR 480 than the 1981 CR 450 as an example. Same with the 250 and big liter bikes.

Great and informative vid. Thanks for sharing. How close would you say the physics/handling of the cars in a sim racer are to the real thing?
@CharlieFerer
@CharlieFerer 2 ай бұрын
iRacing in general is excellent for how the real cars feel and sound. The topo they take of the track is very realistic as well. So if you have a good steering wheel with force feedback and dialed in like the car you race or are racing on iRacing it will be very close to the real thing. For motion it definitely adds to the "seat of your pants" feel but hard to get "G" feel in braking and in corners, etc. It is one of the best ways to learn a track and practice in a car you race. The iRacing races are really good as well as you move up in each class.

@Ramshackle6984

@@CharlieFerer I will probably play with it for a season and then sell it if I restore it. I won't be doing a cherry restore, more so just getting it running and fully operational with as much original as possible. The cylinder needs honed, possibly bored. The bottom end is all seized from the coolant sitting at the bottom. It needs a total engine rebuild. I'm a hobby mechanic at best and don't have all the specialized tools. I've worked on a lot of bikes over the years but this is by far the worst I'd be attempting.

Hey Charlie,Quick question - you mentioned that if the exhaust flaps are removed, the car will go into low power mode. I’m considering getting the Renntech EVM exhaust valve module for my amg gtr pro to fully disable the factory valves and make the car louder. Since this module disables the factory valves, will it affect my car’s power?
@CharlieFerer
@CharlieFerer 2 ай бұрын
Big fan of Renntech. I had them do a complete Rentech build on my prior GT R. I had the EVM exhaust module and what that does is overrides the AMG system to keep the valves open at all times or close. It bypasses the exhaust muffler system on the GT R but now sure on the Pro. Definitely a great module for what it is made for and definitely made the car louder even at start up with the module on.
@ElegantDY
@ElegantDY 2 ай бұрын
@@CharlieFerer Thank you very much for your reply, Charlie. I have a general understanding of how EVM works, so I’m a bit concerned that it might affect the horsepower due to the exhaust valve issue. Thank you.
@CharlieFerer
@CharlieFerer 2 ай бұрын
@@ElegantDY No the exhaust valve issue is when you remove the exhaust and valves completely. The module does not physically touch the existing exhaust.
