Nice job and nice production values. The boards on our 20+ year-old wooden deck have deteriorated to the point where I want to pull them and replace them with a composite of some sort. I like the concept of the stable mineral-based Deckorators Voyage line but have to consider the cost. How is yours holding up scratch-wise?
@NilesProductionsАй бұрын
@@WShawn Thanks Shawn! Glad you enjoyed the build. I haven’t noticed any scratching as of yet. Appears to be holding strong so far and low maintenance. So far I pretty much just hit it with the leaf blower and that’s about it

I feel like I have pretty sold idea of how to build a simple shed.... what I lack is some particulars.... for instance, I want the shed to be as low as possible, not much taller than 7' at the leak, and the plans dont have a top plate, which I feel is essential, but I am not sure how much that extra 2x4 is going to change like the soffit installation, or what ever is done to make sure under the eaves is water tight.... also. I want to extend the eaves and again not sure if that would fundamentally change some part of the build... do you have any good resources to get more info on this? thanks

When I called Deckorator, they said 16" joist spacing would be solid, but you didn’t think so. Did you play around with them a little to conclude that 12" would be better? You are 90 degrees to the joists, so 16" would follow their recommendation, I guess.
@NilesProductions2 ай бұрын
In hindsight 16" would have been just fine, I was worried that it might be a little squishy so I planned for 12" when I was designing the deck. It wasn't a huge cost increase to add a couple more joist. Not counting the rim boards i used 18 joist boards in total, it would have been 14 had I gone 16" spacing

How long will that run a window unit?
@NilesProductions3 ай бұрын
The unit has a 2000 watt battery so if the AC unit draws 500 watts per hour it would last 4hrs on battery only. If it's a 1000 watt unit 2 hrs. If it's a sunny day my three 200 watt solar panels usually generate around 400-450 watts per hour. So the answer is it depends LOL

I don't even know how a piston can MANAGE to roll over the compression cycle with 50+psi already in the cylinder when the intake valve closes. That's GOTTA be hell on rods and piston pins, not to mention the crank.... 😬

@NilesProductions6 ай бұрын
I bought a book called Sheds and Garages from Lowes that had a ton of plans and designs. I also looked at a bunch of stuff online. In the end nothing was exactly what I wanted so I made my own. The Sunset Sheds and Garages book has some good stuff that might help you along in your journey.

I have the material list for everything I used when building this in the description and a couple drawings in the video that you could freeze frame and do a screen capture of. From there you could probably find plans from the Sheds and Garages book that would help you make it your own. Depending on where you live it might be hard to source the two big 4x10s i used in the foundation but there are many different ways to build your base.
