I notice that the title is "MBA 552 Decision Making in Organizations." Everything you said is goodness, wonderfulness, apple pie and motherhood. All nice linear, straightforward thinking with a nod to creativeness. I assume this is intended for junior or senior levels of management. The organization chart defines authority. The chain of command is respected. You go through every level and not around levels (or people will do it to you.) One fundamental problem is that domain (know how) knowledge is at the bottom of the organization chart. Authority increases as you go up the organization chart. The second problem is that you are implying indirect problem solving. Data is gathered at the bottom and fed upward, to some appropriate level of authority. Analysis by report. Unfortunately, everyone in management has their own self-interest, that is not congruent with the organizations self-interest. Maintaining a positive perception of oneself and meeting objectives is the highest priority. So, the information from the lowest level cannot reflect negatively on any manager it passes through. (Lazy, greedy employees are fair game.) You even gently acknowledge this. The correct solution many interfere with an objective that makes a manager look good (reduce maintenance costs 10%). So, this is a bit like Einstein. trying to tell a supervisor trying to tell a worker how to install a brake pad so it doesn't squeal.

hey this was quite a good video can you tell me the answer of this question with reason that among teleological and deontological theory of business ethics which one is more applicable in modern business environment
@robynphd Жыл бұрын
Great question but honestly there isn't one right way...the goal is to find solutions that can satisfy both circumstances. For example, can we find a solution that treats people with dignity and with good intentions AND has a good outcome? That's a win-win for everyone. At the end of the day, business ethics isn't about one idea or lens is better than another, but that we must find solutions that reconcile all of the lenses to meet the needs of all points of view. That is the essence of a win-win solution. If you look at Integrative Agreements in negotiations, it attempts to do the same thing, find a solution that meets everyone's needs. It isn't a limited resource...! Hope this helps!

Hi . Can you please let me know what is the difference between Compliance Framework and Compliance Program.
@robynphd Жыл бұрын
There is overlap but the Framework is how the Compliance program is implemented. Each Framework must include the variables you will use to assess the outcomes that matter. The compliance program should address effectiveness, efficiency, and outcomes, The program might be more developed including the laws rules and policies you are utilizing. The framework is the general issues you are trying to address including how you will evaluate it. Does that make sense?
@AamerAli Жыл бұрын
@@robynphd Thanks for the explanation but I believe program is how the Compliance framework is implemented but not the other way around. the framework is general but the program is detailed.

I am working as an interpreter for a company.in the contract they required to interpret from French to English and from English to creole..but since I started they make me interpret Spanish to English with the same salary.is that fair?
@robynphd Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay responding to this...Just saw the notice you asked a question. Is it fair...what they should do is renegotiate your contract and include Spanish interpretation. I'm not sure that is going to get you more money but it's important your contract fully covers the scope of your responsibilities.

Are you familiar with the NASW? What are some examples how the NASW philosophy is a continuum of distribute justice? I recognize their role for social workers, but how does it apply for society?
@robynphd2 жыл бұрын
Well...I'm not familiar but just looked it up. The NASW philosophy is about the ethical behaviors expected for Social Workers...the presumption is that if you comport yourself in a certain way, this is the best for your clients and by definition would hen be good for society. If I am tasked with helping people and do this inappropriately, then I am creating harm towards others which has spillover effects all over society. Does that make sense?

Aristotle's ethics is more plausibly teleological rather than deontological, given that the attainment of eudamonia is the ultimate goal.
@robynphd2 жыл бұрын
That's not unreasonable. I think it is an interesting balance. On the one hand, under virtue ethics you are arguing for the right way to behave...but how it moves from the deontological to more teleological is when we recognize context matters...but there are elements of deontology in his work...but he believes "it depends". Obviously this is overly simplified but generally speaking I don't disagree.

Our brain looks for ways to oversimplify things Alot of these biases overlap each other and can cause other biases. Overconfidence -- 20/20 1. Overconfidence First red flag - 100% sure 99% sure Better - 75% even though X, Y and Z can happen. Good leaders are knowledgeable by default Why? Illusion of Superiority - Drive for perfection. (Stop looking for perfection) Look for things that could shoot our idea down and it still stands strong. It's solid. We learn the most from failures and grow and cause successes. 2. Inertia Bias

Ma'am..what are the challenges of shrm..is that different from hrm ?
@robynphd3 жыл бұрын
Strategic HRM is really how we make HR relevant to the bottom line of the company. Fundamentally if the HR function doesn't think strategically, it loses its relevance and is not taken seriously, nor will it be able to impact the company's strategy and bottom line. Everything we do in HR must align and support the company mission and strategic plan. If it doesn't align, it will work at odds with the company leaders and will become irrelevant. Does this make sense and answer your question?
