My psychiatrist recently suggested Abilify to have in addition to Zoloft. (I don’t feel as though Zoloft does anything for me, probably because I’ve been on it for 20 years now.) I was about to take the Abilify , but first read reviews online. ALOT of horrifying reviews. I immediately changed my mind after. I do not want to take this. It sounds like a nightmare. Instead I am just going to increase the dosage of my Zoloft .

It's funny how drug companies like to charge the most for the least effective medications. Paying out of pocket in Canada, this AD is probably the most expensive.

This is about the only newer drug (TCAs aside) that I would actually classify as an SNRI. Duloxetine is still 10x more potent as an SSRI than an SNRI.

I am 58 years old. I have been depressed since I was 9 to ten years of age. Ketamine has SAVED MY LIFE! Hands down.

I've tired other types of atypical antipsychotic meds with my antidepressants. Abilify seems to work with the least troublesome side effects. I have major depression, Generalized Anxiety and PTSD. I'm a veteran and I get my treatment and medication through the VA. I don't know how I'm supposed to "feel" while taking it. I do know i feel terrible when not taking it. I guess it works. This is as close to "normal " as I can feel. I also have thyroid problems that fluctuate. My thyroid levels can and do exasperate my mental health symptoms. I wonder if psch meds affect thyroid levels or its the other way? Chicken or egg? Have there been any studies? The couple of times I've needed inpatient care my thyroid was either too high or too low. When it was too low i was more seriously ill. I'm curious in general, how thyroid affects mental heath and how different mental health treatments affect thyroid. I fully understand without knowing my specific medical history i cannot get a personal answer. I'm just curious about general information. I am planning on working with my PCP and Mental Health Provider (I see a psychiatric nurse practitioner) for a treatment plan that works for me.

I was given Parnate 1988 for Anorexia not only did not help made worse! Unfortunately the med has caused me years of problems and even now 65 can’t believe what’s going on! Anyone interested ask me, nightmare

St. John's Wort Extract, 300 mg, 240 Veggie Capsules I bought this product and I suspect one of its ingredients is a pig derivative. Ingredient name is stearic acid.

Dis drug helped me alot with paranoia and panic it works . a dog barked at me the other day usually i get right jumpy towards the dog but this drug made me just look at the dog with no reaction what so ever an also it helps with panic in situations that are considered normal daily activities, i wasent skitzo but i was paranoid for no reason which is why i am happy about this drug and its not additictive too so win win for me

From my own hard experience - [or should i say soft experience given that St Johns wort hits a mans libido , in common with other anti depressants } i would say AVOID AT ALL COSTS .After taking tablets of St Johns wort i realised that it was CAUSING or at least exacerbating my serious illness - acid reflux . I was ragged , losing weight . { it had exactly the same effect on a friend who like me did not realise that she was not her usual self at all }I stopped taking it and after 2 or 3 days of cold turkey i felt physically and mentally SO MUCH BETTER . With anti depressants people THINK they feel better but do they really ? I now realise that i was half dead taking this stuff . Thats what drugs do - they make you stupid . Everyone said 'Oh its natural SO ssssoooo much better " Nonsense. having stopped i am now a healthy and happy person . My doctor told me that to be useful it needs to be administered by people who really understand herbal medicine .

Amitriptyline does wonders with same side effects. What's more special with this new generation drug?

Tricyclic antidepressants such as amitriptyline have additional side effects such as more weight gain, orthostasis, anticholinergic side effects. Also amitriptyline is very fatal in overdose, and the newer antidepressants are less fatal in overdose.

No psychiatrist would take this because they know of the side effects, how hard it is to come off of them, and of the potential to permanently alter their brain chemistry. Your second sentence may have been unnecessary, but so is this guys comment making a joke of what you've said. Psychiatrists are not therapeutic "doctors" and they only help some people sometimes and usually temporarily. Legal drug dealers essentially

That is a small dose and would have a very low chance to cause any weight gain or diabetes

I’m just re-starting my meds. I was taking 100mg of seroquel last year and it helps with my violent outburst but I stop taking it after my last bottle had ran out I stopped seeing my doctor because I couldn’t function at all. I’m sleeping most of the time and couldn’t go to work. Today I was put on in abilify at a low dosage 5mg with a different psychiatrist Today is my first day.

Avoid due to sleep paralysis demons! Trintellix is the best anxiety med! Add Wellbutrin if needing more of an a/d.

Hi Dan, I hope you’re doing good. Did you have withdrawal symptoms coming off of this because I was on it like almost 3 weeks and I stopped it tried psychedelics did OK for like two days then I’m having withdrawals from it.
