Nice landing but it needs a long runway, planning to buy the a 330 model and add a thrust reverser mod on the engine nacelle 3D printed. Removing the stock foam nacelle and replacing on a 3D printed engine nacelle with cascade type reverser configuration. Nice flight man kudos. 🛩

Runway is to the right of the quarter mile track at Puunene, Maui. It’s about an eighth of a mile.

You had the chance to get some soaring in but instead the glider kept looping and flying out of control. Better luck next time.

Behar Kryeziu it's a new battery so it's not puffy. some of our batteries had to be retired because they expanded and couldn't keep a charge. The one he's using is bigger than 2200 mah.

Nice paint scheme and flying! :-) What battery are you using? I have also built mine as A330-300 version, looking to maiden it soon but wants to keep it as light as possible in order to keep stall speed low

Yes, there are are several sites. The slope site is at Camp Maluhia and the thermal site is at Polipoli on Haleakala.

Nice job man think this is what my wife is getting me for my birthday just wondering if the decals already come applied cause I hate decals. Wish I had a slope like that here thumbs up buddy

This is the engine my friend used. One of the recommended two cylinder engines that is recommended is too wide to fit the cowling. www.desertaircraft.com/engines_detail.php?Page=DA-85

The retract is from Robart. I think it is left hand off-set. I cut out the rear retract hatch on the bottom of the P-47. It is marked on the plane. I then split (cut) it down the middle to make the hatch and used plastic hinges to install them. I made a simple light ply bulk head and mounted the retract using blind nuts so that I can get the retract back out if it needs work. The wooden bulkhead is glued in. I kept the bulkhead light because the P-47 will need nose weight. It took just a few hours of work.

Yep, a'a, but overgrown to some degree so it's not all that fresh. Not razor fresh, anyway. I bet you'd have a blast with that Whirlwind.

Been talking to some of my friends about doing a road trip and bringing some gliders with us. The pu'u, I take it, is a'a lava? I am rehabbing a 48" Whirlwind and that might be a good one to take.

There's a spot down near Ka'u just south of Whittington Beach Park, but I haven't flown there. From what I've heard it's outstanding. The spot I've been flying is the pu`u just north of Kona Airport, near Kua Bay. The wind is good most afternoons, but it's a rocky pu`u, so no soft landings unless you catch. There's a group that flies off the northern face of Pololu Valley, but I haven't flown there, either. If I can get my Zagi put back together by Sunday, I should be able to give you a report.
