They have a wonderful selection of British Cold War veterans on display there, did you go back to the Shackelton to look inside its fuselage? thats an amazing aircraft developed from the Lincoln which was in turn was developed from the Lancaster. it had some rather flattering and not so flattering nicknames such as the "Shack", "Growler" for the sound its engines made, and "a hundred thousand rivets flying in close formation."
@Alpes77-dt5uy20 күн бұрын
Yes I did go back I made a video called stepping into the Avro Shackleton it was an amazing experience climbing across all the sections to get to the front of the plane 👍

Chinook HC.1 ZA717 was heavily damaged in an accident in the Falklands which led to it becoming an instructional airframe for loadmasters at RAF Cranwell.

The window underneath the Vulcan B.2s nose was a throwback to the earlier B.1 model which called for a prone bomb aimer in the old sense to drop the bombs. This area retained the window on the B.2, but wasn't fitted out for dropping bombs.

Did you go inside the hanger?
@Alpes77-dt5uy20 күн бұрын
Yes there was two hangars there and that footage is on one of my other videos called to the hangars on beyond 👍

Not been for years (must correct that) but have sat in the Vulcan.

@@Alpes77-dt5uy sorry, but I am a bit of a vulcan nut. Have also sat in the vulcans at Coventry and Norwich AND XH558 at Bruntingthorpe after one of its 'fast taxi runs', and got to sit in the left seat, even while those four olympus were still spooling down!

It’s a really stunning place and to see all the planes that was once used and its history on show is just amazing. They are under restoration so it’s interesting to see. I’ve got loads more footage to go though so there will be another video. Thank you for watching 🙏

I have visited twice to take it all in, a brilliant living museum, the Lancaster Just Jane is being rebuilt to flying condition. my favourite exhibit the actual control yoke from Guy Gibsons 617 squadron Lancaster used on the Dam's raid.

Very good video. Loads to see there. The B-25 the American bomber, is there to give taxi rides when JJ is not able to. That is when the cockpit section is being restored. If you search for Neville Wheeldon on youtube, he post a weekly update of the restoration. Regards. He`s at 250+ videos. Worth dipping into the playlist.
