I am a qualified and experienced general surgeon and prior to my studies in Medical School I went to the music conservatory and my main subject was piano. I received also a solo diploma. Now I'm 58 years old and 2024 is my best year, because I feel not traumatized anymore by Glenn Gould. I can play them also on a high level even if I don't work as a professional musician anymore. I've been listening to Beatrice over and over again and her interpretation of the Goldberg variations is the best in our entire times. I don't know even one musician reaching that level. Beatrice Rana understands the architecture of this music and that's what she's expressing !

The problem for some of the sniffs was that people who knew little about composition or music in general, liked Sibelius. These folk went to concerts to hear his music and maybe not to concerts of new-music composers. And the early 20th century music literati disdained them and their preferences.

A fabulous interview, showcasing Jakub’s deep knowledge, passion for and commitment to his art as a singer and Director. I’ve been lucky enough to see the Paris production in Paris and the San Francisco one as a recording. The presentations were worlds apart, Paris was monochrome, pared back to just the essentials, San Francisco was colour and fireworks. In both productions Jakub was perfect, flawlessly adjusting to the mood on stage. This CD is magical, his amazing voice is perfection. He, single-handedly, brings baroque music to new young audiences. He is a true phenomenon.

for those concerned, I had contact with Tiffany, and what a surprise. She tried to con me togheter with her friend. very aggressive, money hungry conwoman and scammer. she and her south american friend operate on Telegram chat. if you go there you can meet them. just play a game with her as I did and very soon she will reveal her true self. obviously unable to make living playing piano she does eveything to get money from people. so sad such a talent to behave like an indian scammer.

Frustrating to watch you walk around touching everything while someone is talking with you. I imagine they told you to do that - I know it is done with other types programs like this. If they didn't tell you to - don't do that again.

It's always nice to watch Maestro Jarvi talking about repertoire and interpretation. Once upon a time, it was a privilege I used to have talking about such things for long hours with a grumpy old man as a student. At least, watching equivalent videos as such is a place I can feel at home, especially being in a region which sees less or almost no value when it comes to knowledge as such... 😔❤

Sibelius has to have a broad tempo. I even said this to the maestro back in the early 90s. He doesn't agree. I won't listen to fast Sibelius, unless he says fast. Andante is not to be played briskly. That's that. I'm not budging.

Sibelius seems to be having the last laugh over the music critics and the Second Viennese school. It was much the same in my youth in the US. Sibelius was in low critical esteem. His centenary in 1965 passed without much notice. It took me until my 60s to overcome this critical bias against his music. Also I think in places like the US and England where Sibelius was very popular while he was still alive the avant gard wanted to use him as their whipping boy

I have listened to every recording of this Sibelius Symphony and think Pavlo, Jarvis is the most beautiful….He is a delight to watch as he seems to actually feel the music and the orchestra responds to him perfectly. And the timpani player was amazing, with his black long coat, never sitting , almost constantly drumming. …Hope it wasn’t true but read where he died not long after this performance. So sad.
