I have found Spurgeon to be a respite from today's bombastic, never wrong, self congratulatory preacher. He somehow hit harder but soothed deeper. With Spurgeon I see a man of God compared to most others I see as men of [worldly] men. Thank you for your refreshing faithfulness in this.

I believe I was born to preach. Many years ago I got saved and started serving in my local church as a youth pastor. My pastor would sometimes allow me to preach from the pulpit. I enjoyed studying the word, teaching the word, and attending Bible studies. But I let the Devil in and he took down a path that I never intended to go. I feel lost and ashamed and so disconnected from my Lord. It's been 20 years and I think of all that time I wasted. 😢

"Return to me", says the Lord. Come back into His loving arms, confess your sins and be forgiven. And give yourself freely and wholly to God. Lay your life down, witholding nothing, and He will surely wash and cleanse and use you.

Did you just automatically became a full-time youth pastor with no schooling because you felt like it, wow, sounds like you had it pretty easy. Sorry to hear about the road you ended up on. I'm 40 Chuck, I make six figures in the plumbing and hvac industry and have wanted to become a preacher since I got saved in 2015. I hate my day to day job, I know it's not what I should be doing. And To this very day I haven't found a pastor to help get on a track towards doing it. I've done street preaching and other things on my own, but ultimately, every so called person in ministry and seminaries I've spoken too, are a bunch of discouraging blow hards keeping things close to the vest. It's a good ole boys club these days. Good luck to you, God Bless

I have begun preaching in public here in Denmark but every single church is against me. No support in any way. Church is the greatest single hindrance for revival.

Glory to Jesus! Yes every church should be very loud in the public sphere, but they hinder the Gospel. Did you know that the word church - kyriake - is no where in the Greek text?

I absolutely disagree. Nothing I could say or do could possibly “get someone saved”. The job of the preacher is to lead that person to the only one that can save. Are you kidding me?

Thank you for the suggestions. I thought it was peculiar that you mentioned a Mother’s Day sermon focus on not-measuring-up. As a man and Christian for 30 years, I grew tired and irritated with the difference between Fathers and Mother’s Day messages. The Mother’s Day message was always positive and glowing about how special and perfect moms were, and the Father’s Day message was -Never so. I always left the church feeling discouraged and beet up on Father’s Day. I will be speaking tomorrow and take your advise to heart.

He never said anything about what the scriptures says about your calling, he only says what Spurgeon says, but what about what God says. God calls the foolish( unlearned) to confound the wise. If you are called of God, it doesn’t matter what mans, God’s word overshadows all others.
@DerekCulpepper-vu3cd25 күн бұрын
@alperkins8303, clearly you do not understand the context of 1 Corinthians 1-27-32x because it is not talking about being called to preach. In fact, there is no verse of scripture that says “called to preach. However, the Bible says to preach the Word & it is through preaching the word that the Holy Spirit will draw souls to Christ Jesus. And if you want ll trad 1 Timothy 3 & Titus 1, you can see what Gods qualifications are to be a preacher.

I got out and did some street preaching for the very first time a few weeks ago and it honestly felt great. God has been telling me that I need to get out and do more and there is a severe lack of outdoors evangelism where I live. Most people were polite, but awkwardly tried to get away, one man was fairly angry, one woman was receptive, but seemed a bit confused and had some "unique" ideas about God based on past religious experiences. One lady though was VERY interested and even though her husband and small child wanted to get away, she really wanted to stick around and hear the gospel. I thought that if in 2 hours, even if she was the only one that we were able to reach, how great and incredible that is, and I thank God so much for that.

As ambassadors for Christ we would like to share the gospel of our salvation in the dispensation of God's grace. “Grace can be defined as the undeserved favor of God for people who deserve His condemnation.” God does not hold sins against us because they have already been paid for (every sin for every person.) Christ was made to be everyone's-every-sin (2 Corinthians 5:21). However, full reconciliation is not achieved until an individual "reconciles himself" to God (2 Corinthians 5:20). This happens upon belief of the gospel of our salvation. All humanity is forgiven but not all believe it. Being forgiven does not equal being saved, salvation comes by faith. Salvation is appropriated by faith, forgiveness of sins is NOT. Your sins were forgiven regardless of your belief. God did not need your faith at Calvary, He only needed His Son. SALVATION is only gained by trusting Christ - via belief in the word of truth (the gospel of our salvation.) Salvation IS by works, just not our own. It is not of ourselves, but through the gift of God's grace that we are saved. Upon HEARING the gospel, if we BELIEVE the gospel, we are sealed with the holy Spirit of promise unto the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13-14). A lost soul can only be saved by trusting Christ to have done everything necessary for our salvation though His finished cross-work. Romans thru Philemon are the only books in the bible that explain salvation for today. In those books we find salvation is by faith alone, in Christ alone, without-any-works-of-any-kind-at-anytime. Christ died for your sins, and has risen for your justification (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) Put your faith in what He did rather than what you have done, are doing, or are going to do. Salvation is not getting-your-sins-forgiven, it's believing they already are. (2 Corinthians 5:19) And as ambassadors for Christ, we would also like to refer you to Truth Time Radio, also on KZbin and Facebook, they are happy to help you better understand your Bible and better express your faith to others. Have a blessed day with insight, wisdom and discernment!
