I agree. It's always been very strange to me the way that so many people seem to just blindly support people who work (or worked) in the domain of the police or military. It comes across as an indoctrinated, programmed response. We hear all about their sacrifice and the trauma they've endured. But what they don't like to hear is that it was all completely voluntary. Nothing was forced upon these people. They agreed to a deal for financial security (which they do receive). And if anyone brings up the fact that everyone has endured trauma and made sacrifices in life, this is just hand-wave dismissed. There is definitely something going on with this because people just do not engage in rational thought on the issue. They refuse to. If you ask me, the overall population has been programmed to basically worship the police and military because without that social status & financial security, NO ONE would agree to these deals. And this actually means that the very worst people, with the most self-centered, worldly priorities, end up filling these roles. Those LEAST deserving of respect.

My brothers and I were "weekend regular's" at Rachel's in West Palm off of 45th street back in the 1999-2003 timeframe. That is part of the reason things are so expensive. Because there's no guarantee they are getting their carts back.
