In other words are different year model 1024’s rods compatible with different year sprockets (and rails)?

Luke, are the spinning rods (that twist the sprockets) substantially the same on each opener? My thirteen-year-old Genie 1024 conked out on me (making a clack, clack, clack noise). Found a guy on EBay who’s selling an unused Genie 1024 head unit. Probably a different year than mine. Can I simply leave my old rails and sprocket in place and swap out the head units?

Hi there Luke Door Man, my goddaughter Abigail loves garage doors and would like an old opener, however I do need the craftsman 1/2 that’s already installed since 2001. If you have any old openers from the 90s or 2000s if you want to get rid of I will give you my parents mailing address and then pick it up when I go to see them next may. If that would work, let me know and I would really appreciate it. Cheers!

My friend Ken has a problem with the remote (possibly the same older model Signature - looks the same). In your videos, do you ever discuss how to reprogram the remote for the Signature? It has the one program button (no Learn Button) on the left front. Is there a sequence to go through or is it similar to the new Genie/Lift Master models. After reviewing your videos, it may be as simple as wall mount switch that toggles the remote signal off and on. I’ll look at that when I meet with him later. Thanks

I had a chance to visit my friend Ken today and his problem with the garage door remote. The wall switch for unlock and lock was in unlock state. The Model is 1/2 HP was IS550/A. One remote is LiftMaster 380UT 2-Button Universal and the other is Chamberlain Remote. The LiftMaster one does seem to talk to the Overhead Signature box. I unplugged / powered off the unit and waited 20 seconds or so and then plugged/powered back on. I then pressed the reset/learn button until red light went out (making sure we were reset and good). Remotes have new batteries. I pressed the reset/learn button once and the light started blinking, press remote once and the light is then went solid red; and then pressed remote one more time and the red light goes out. Press remote again and nothing happens. But the light does have a faint flicker when pressing the remote button. Ken informed me earlier that it just quit working . Wall button still works fine opening and closing. Could the circuit board be the problem? Do I need to do anything with the remotes (they both have a button and dip switches)? When pressing the Chamberlain remote; only the blue light comes on the remote and nothing happens on the Overhead unit. Any suggestions or thoughts without taking up too much of your time. Thank you again.

Good video I actually learned a few things about my own garage door opener and I've had it about 20 years, lol. I was however hoping that you would have done a quick section on programming a new garage door opener for it The Originals have long since broke and I did reprogram one side about 10 years ago but now I need to do the other side and it's been about impossible for me to find the instructions on how to do it online, unfortunately I have the memory of a turnip so I don't remember how I did it all those years ago. Aside from that I love this opener it's been a real champ about 7 years ago I had to change the springs on one door because one of them broke besides that I've really had no problems with it at all.

@@LukeDoorMan oh wow hey thank you so much for the reply I wasn't expecting one and I really appreciate it! However for some reason my setup is super squirrely and took me about an hour and a half to finally get it ,so this is what happened,,, I have two 777CD's, I had two single button clickers that came with them, one for the left one for the right they broke a long time ago, I replaced them both with a single two-button Chamberlain model-klik5u. I needed a clicker to sync up my Hellcat to the door opener it would not connect directly and according to dodge you need to have a wireless Clicker to program the car (weird). So this is where the problems started, the left Phantom connected to button number one exactly how you said it should with no problems and this is where it gets odd ,the right side would not sync up to button two.. after about 7 Minutes of trying while balancing on a ladder that was entirely too small for what I was doing I decided to see if button one would sync up and it worked exactly how you said it should but unfortunately now I have one button working both doors at the same time only the doors were not synced up at the same time so one would open while the other would close after about another 5 or 6 minutes of my death-defying balancing act on the ladder I finally figured out how to erase the code from the right side opener! however the circus act was not yet over, the next 15 minutes or more was spent trying different button pressing combinations between the right side door learn button and the number two button on the clicker [ keep in mind that the Chamberlain also has a program button under the battery cover which was not needed to program the left side door], so to make a short story long I finally got it by a combination of pressing the learn button on the right side Phantom and the program button on the Chamberlain pressing the number two button three times then hitting the program button on the clicker again and that finally worked! Why the left side was so easy and worked like you said but the right side had a completely different set of rules I don't know I'm not sure if it's an issue with the Phantom or the Chamberlain but it was definitely weird! But either way thank you for trying to help I appreciate the reply and sorry this message was so long!lol.
