The MG4 long range has the larger 77kWh battery and a range of up to 530km/329 miles with 0-100/60 in 6.5 sec. Value for money is rediculously good on a lease. We have a large solar system and in Australia we worked out that when this hits about 65/70000km (40/43000 miles), we’ve pulled $10000 of free fuel from the panels👍👍 I love my petrol power with a Jeep HEMI and Suzuki Jimny in the garage but, with these things so cheap now and free to run it’s a no brainer for me. I’ll use the petrol for fun only.

The audio is much better if you tick the “loud” box. Also, the HUD on the e-c4 creates terrible reflection in the windscreen, so better without.

Do you pay Road tax on this model? I'm looking for a way to reduce costs and currently fuel is a big one, My plan as a truck driver is to commute 18 miles to work take the battery off and charge it in the truck through an Inverter as I'm doing my job meaning my daily commute cost other than insurance would literally be zero...... Unless there is road tax to pay of course?

Thank you for giving an explanation about the sound system; I couldn't get if the car had a subwoofer or not (on the Advanced trim). Nobody ever talks about sound systems in the cars, that's such a pity (from my opinion...). So thank you to do so and to foresee separate reviews about this also.

I think the quality is quite ok, but the limiter really gets my nerves. When passing the 20's the limiter cuts the volume on bass heavy music. Pass that mark, when there's a drop the volume raises and then just drops on first bass note. This bugs me a lot. No workarounds that I can find. The volume is just very quiet.

We've had our Kona Ultimate for 2 months now with the 19" wheels. White interior definitely adds to the airiness and gives a classier feel than the standard microfibre and sythentic leather. Cooled seats are great after you've gone mountain biking and need to cool down post ride. In respect to range, we regulary get 250 miles on the guess-o-meter on a mix of rural NSLs and hilly terrain in Gloucestershire with level 2 regen. I can average 4.0 miles/kWh in the B roads, dropping to about 3.2 m/kWh on the motorways - i.e. a run to Heathrow Airport. . Heathrow run at motorway speeds 8°C ambient with rain gave us a range of 235 miles, with the automatic cruise control sat at 70mph, average speed was 55mph for the 125 miles it took us to get to the airport, using 55% charge. Hive Free Charge means that as long as we charge at home and scheduled for off peak, it's free! Winning. Driving dynamics - It was pleasantly surprising! Despite being FWD, I didn't get the sensation of understeer when taking down my favourite local twisty B roads. Keeping it in eco with the regen at level 2 gives a very good balance of pace and performance. Lvl 2 gives the sensation of engine braking to settle the car in and load the front when cornering, which was akin to my Celica 190. The only time I've had it scrabbling for grip was when I put my foot down on a corner exit with a bit of gravel on the nearside. Torque steer was not apparent - it just felt familiar to say a Civic Type R or the Celica I used to own. Power delivery and torque are nicely measured and dialled in. I prefer it to my X5 40D, since you're not shifting an additionaly 400kg of vehicular weight, despite that car having 360bhp and 690NM on the dyno. You're right about the brakes. The final 20% does feel harsh and rushed. It does tend to get a bit skittish in the wet, though in the wet, unless you're an absolute regenmeister, most people would button down their pace. I definitely didn't want to be in mode 2 and letting off the accelerator pedal when there's standing water, since the same weight transfer that helps in corners is not going to be your best friend when your back goes light. As for notifications and driver aids - it's become a ritutual to programme the shortcut key to the driver aids - Speed warning turned to OFF and driver alert turned OFF, so that it doesn't ping at me every time I do shoulder checks for lane changes. I have to also remove the lane keeping assist. I don't like it when the logic dictates that I need to get into the centre of the road on tight country lanes, or the unprovoked torque steer!!! There should be a "Kimi Raikkonen button" which tells the car "Shut up, I know what I'm doing!" Aside from that, it's the perfect family car. So much so that we hardly use the X5. Boot is enough to fit 3 large samsonite suitcases with rucksacks wedged in. Build quality is on par with Japanese cars and the lovely tactile buttons are a welcome touch. FU German/VAG EVs!!!!

I went for the Ultimate spec because I fancied the sunroof and upgraded audio. Granted, at home I listen to all sorts on a combination of my ADAM T5Vs and KRK Rokit 5s, so I've got used to having a flat frequency response. For a combination of Metal and EDM, I've boosted my mid range up by 2 notches as well the bass up by 1. It's a shame it doesn't have say an 8 Band EQ for something that's supposedly a consumer grade supplier, but like you say, the woofer driver probably isn't up to delivering the sub 120Hz with gusto, but does mean that it gives the door drivers less of a tough time having to deal with the mids. Despite that, I'm quite content with its sound. In my 20's I would have had your standard VIBE or EDGE powered 12" sub in the boot and something like Alpine SPGs in the door and a wodge of dynamat installed. Nevertheless, the fact that the car only has to contend with tyre noise instead of a 4 or 6 pot diesel up front means that it's actually quite a pleasing soundscape.
@TotallyEV4 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing! And yes, a sub upgrade would be great but you'd then have to look into an amp etc to drive it.
@Titot1824 күн бұрын
@@TotallyEV Yeah, I'm not going to tap into the 12V circuitry of an EV just to do that. I mean, for a salary sacrifice/company car that I use for the family, the audio and UI is faultless. Car audio has always been subjective and for the general consumer, it's great. No point going to the extremes of having a well set up system, only for 80% of the journeys to have a tantruming toddler in the car with you.
