Great idea. I am going to do the same thing in my single wide investment. What do we use to cover the cracks?

what happens to other tires in the yard when they encounter the studs that have fallen out? Seems to me like a traction chain may be much safer in the long run as they do not pull out and if they do, you will not get a flat tire surprise from them.
@PhilipWisiackas28 күн бұрын
Are the studs better than traction bars? Also over time do they lessen the longevity of the tract? Do tires and chains work better up a steep grade?

Are you sponsored by these folks? I ask this because as I watch your video, it doesn't really seem like the tongs are "easy" to attach to the log. The design of most tongs (spinning in every direction except the one you need) create a challenge for the operator. I'm wondering if some type of tag pole attatched to tongs would assist the operator. Of course you then have the tag pole getting in your way.
@practicallyIndependentАй бұрын
I'm not sponsored by anyone. They served their purpose at the time of this video. I now use a tractor with forks and hydraulic grapple. I also now have a hydraulic sawmill. It's been about a year since I have done a video, but hope to start doing them again before the year ends. Thanks for watching.

Hi. Doesnt the log just completely crack once you start cutting and taking tension off? Also can you do it with a regular hammer?

I really love sharing the videos, but it really slows me down when I make them. Having to reposition the camera a lot while I'm working as well as the time it takes to edit. Maybe I'll do some KZbin shorts to at least show what we're doing. At least that doesn't take up too much time. We are doing pretty well and have started work on building the cabin. The foundation is just about finished. How have you been doing?

Just wondering will your land perk for well and septic? Its my understanding that if these test are not performed or the land wont perk then you cannot build a home on it
@practicallyIndependent11 ай бұрын
Depends on the county. Here if you have more than so many acres they do not require a perk test. We are exempt from it due to having 30 acres. The reason we bought this property is we are exempt from most inspections, tests, and permitting due to the location and zoning.

I as a 79 year old retired carpenter have refurbished several planes in my time. But the hardest part was to sharpen the darn things. I found it was most important to keep your sandpaper VERY flat to the table ( I used the table saw because it was very flat )You used two pieces of sandpaper and they did not sit flat and it caused the corners round a little. I had the same problem with my chisels and plane irons as well but got good at it after a while. Then it got that we sent in our saw blades chisels plane irons and drill bits and the company paid. Needless to say that was the end of most of my sharpening. Just found your channel and checking you out and subscribing. I am in East Tennessee and moved here from Vermont 8 years ago to get away from the snow. Wishing you well.

I saw this was taken awhile back, but if you are looking for a way to stop your tracks from slipping we use TrackGrips. They are bolt on and do not ruin your tracks. Easy on easy off and made a huge difference plowing our driveway in Colorado. They also help us thru mud season here.

I may have missed it, but is the 24" or 30" model? Do you have a preference? Our logs are all 16-18" so it sounds like the 24" would be adequate just wondering if there is a reason that the 30" would be preferred. Great video.

My Woodland Mills HM130 seems to constantly need re-leveling. It’s always noticeable when the head rolls to the center. I have tried the laser but in my opinion the beam is too fat and hard to see in daylight. I now use the string and blocks method.

It definitely makes a big difference for traction, but the stud may scratch up the pavement.
