I started in the mid 90s and I’ve always been an auto mag fan too. Auto cockers are nice but there’s something about a mag that I just love. I’m actually going to be buying one shortly to bring back the old memories.

Shortly after this gun came out a firm named Pro Team Products began modifying them to make them look like military's M15. Some featured the fixed rear stock as well as a functional Cobray 37mm grenade launcher. Many of these modified versions were employed by a number of foreign military groups for close quarters combat training.

I am sorry but NOTHING about the Nerve was "Ahead of it's time". It used inferior aluminum with fragile anodizing. a mediocre HPR an OK at best LPR ( just be glad it even had one.. the Impulse released without one stock!) it used a proprietary FRAGILE reflective ribbon eye a frame which had a SMALL trigger guard cramped too close to the HPR it had needless metal on it to incorporate a proprietary bolt ( it could be a LOT lighter than it shipped.) it had somewhat finnicky detents it didn't have great trigger geometry ( to be fair? neither did the shocker.) it was an "OK" gun at best. it was the best gun Smart Parts ever made...But it was kinda too little too late compared to the ICD B2K & BKO and compared to Intimidators and Angels? it took a MASSIVE beating.. like unfair levels of savage beatdown. The nerve was/is a nice curiosity, a worthy piece to a collection, the best gun the Gardners ever made... And ultimately *like all Smart Part Guns? : Overpriced, overhyped, cost cut in all the worst places, fragile, and FAR behind anything else the competition was putting out to the point of being a HILARIOUSLY BAD Purchase.*

Ok I can't stand this claim that the sft and I believe the Nerve as well were made of an inferior aluminum they weren't it was a higher quality softer aluminum that was better able to absorb impacts without deforming tell me have you ever seen a minor bend in a stock body sft or nerve, probably not because it could better absorb impacts without deforming. The inability to hold anodizing was a downside of the aluminum though so that part is correct.
@reignick1133
@reignick1133 3 ай бұрын
@@Bombers57 you've got to either be high or trolling. You sure as hell don't know material science. Take 7075 aluminum treated with type 3 hardcoat anodizing.. if the inferior 6060 were superior for shock absorbtion? 6065 would not be the industry standard for current day paintball markers and 7075 would not be the choice de riguer for the AR 15, FN SCAR 16/7 SIG rattler etc. those items are EXPECTED to see a LOT of impact and shock. Companies like Santan tactical use 6065 for their uppers and lowers, and almost every US GOV use 6065 for handguards and reciever extentions ( buffer tubes.) You are 100% *WRONG* here. Take the L gracefully.

The Nerve either came out in late 04 or early 05, and was produced for a year or less. They were very expensive at the time, especially for a Smart Parts marker. They all had that regulator which was an upgraded Shocker (SFT) reg. The trigger frame was basically the Shockers. What it was really known for was being probably the first mass produced paintball marker to come with ramping stock. It was not tournament ready for the PSP ramping though simply because you couldnt program in the first 3 semi shots. They also came with a stainless steel freak, but I dont think they came with the kit.
@Damitsall
@Damitsall 6 ай бұрын
They were nice shooting markers but because of the price many were not interested. I believe the came stock with the Qlock feednecks, which are one of the best feednecks in my opinion. As far as ergonomics, it varies from person to person, but generally most people liked it (the DM6 and 7 had it beat though, the 6s came with the UL frame stock) . It was like a smaller, lighter, and with a few other upgrades, Impulse to many. One thing that happened when they first came out, is people with Shockers would steal (or buy) the boards out of these because they share the same type of board. Obviously they wanted the ramping from the Nerve board.

If it's all original, it shoots with compressed air and it will shoot any standard size 68 caliber paint-ball. You'll need to find a tank to screw on it for the air supply. I'd definitely go through it and make sure all seals and springs are in good shape.

Took me a long time to realize how many good design choices were in the Blazer. Volume chamber in the vertical asa reminds me f the LV series. It's a sled design reducing reciprocating mass/stroke length like any of the mid block cocker. The poor design choices are still present. They adapted a 45 frame too late. The gun needed to be springs light for HPA only. Focus on trigger work was never there as the game was embracing volume for safe movement. Centerfed came late. Compatible barrel threading should have been a thing.

I love that old PGP. I just found mine while unpacking my new workshop. I haven't played in almost 20 years. My primary was an autococker (or bud orr sniper depending on the day) with the black magic setup. One day, just to prove a point to some kids with electronic triggers (they were new then) about the player being more important than the gun, I challenged them to a speedball game. Them with electro-guns, me with my PGP. Best game I ever played. Wiped the floor with these kids. The PGP is simple, accurate (within about 60 feet), and because of its small size the target I presented behind cover was tiny. This is a great gun.

The shop I played at a lot when I first bought some gear in 2000 had about five of these floating around in theory as rentals. And yes they were every bit as awful as advertised. But I had no idea what was inside them until watching this today; learn something every day. They were never ever given out as rentals. Farting around with them we figured out you could turn them way up on CO2 and basically they were a fire extinguisher cannon, shooting huge cones of white Co2. Later we adapted one of those cheap 43 cal paintball blowguns into the barrel with some tape...and shot the steel darts that also came with the blow gun out the back door at the cinder block wall behind the shop. It would embed them in the concrete, lol.

Would you like a set of grips that arent cracked? I have a set that are later model ones I don't need that are in good shape. There's actually more versions of the PGP than 5. There's the earliest ones that are basically converted PGs with the knurled handle, the next one had the knurled handle and a bolt that didn't have the knurled end on the bolt,there's the version that came just before yours that is identical except still have the knurled pump handle,there's the one you have there,there's the first plastic pump handle model that doesn't have the rear sight but still has the old style valve, there's the one that came just after this that had the cartridge valve, and then finally the PGP2K that came with all the bells and whistles on it from the factory. All PGPs have Brass Valves, but the old style valves have a lead seal on them (isn't needed anymore if ever taken apart) also old style valves require a special tool, cartridge valves do not. You can tell if you have a Cartridge Valve model by looking on the left side of the marker, if it says PA series it's a Cartridge Valve but if it says P Series its the old style valve

I used one in local tournament that someone let me use. Fast gun. It had a clear hard grip panel that I had cracked while I was using it so I told the guy I’d order a new one. Called action and they told me I wasn’t supposed to have that gun because it was a prototype at the time 😂… unfortunately for them, I didn’t have it in my possession at the time, but it was a fun gun to shoot.

Lol taking me back.... i thought the, at this point "story", was that the RT could fire, or i think the marketing fine print was dry cycling, 20+ rounds per second (eg tested with a robotic trigger pulling device no paint and in ideal conditions). The RT's problem was the staggeringly high base price. That said, every pro or serious amateur i knew back then used an RT as their primary marker. Personally, i loved my autockocker..... I played a scenario game with a serious am/pro guy equipped with his RT (and extra tools for the longer game) He seemed to believe i was firing as fast as his RT could in practice, or at least eyeballing the firing rate This was a bone stock bud orr branded with a vl200 hopper and nothing else beyond my remote air tanks and 6x tubes of marbalizer (back then $120/case, or about $8 billion in today's monopoly money)

is that silver screw on the right rear the velocity adjustment? i still have a Sheridan RG1 regulator. before that we (The Nobody's) were sponsored by KC "No Hot Shots" regulator (brass colored if i remember correctly) which was bought by Sheridan and renamed the RG1. thats what we were told when the next year came around and the RG1's showed up. like all sponsors, they wanted us to use them on our guns. problem was we only had maybe 3 or 4 people shooting cockers. the remaining 9-10 of us shot Automags so the regs were basically useless.

Just found your channel. I like it. Played with The Nobody’s (93-95) and Team Xtreme (96) then Brass Eagle with Nate Greenman. I don’t believe I ever got to play the Turtles even though we played all the NPPLs. Ran a minimag most of that time except for about half a season with a cocker. It crapped out on me at Cup and i threw it in the bag, took out the mag, and never went back. Had to run the Rainmaker with Brass Eagle when it came out for sponsorship reasons. Mag never went down on me on the field.
