That absolutely will work as long as each cell is still intact on the battery. As it is used and recharged, they grow spurs in the cells.

First off, it is deceptive to not use any Flux on the first soldering attempt. Secondly, what good does copper electroplating a tip that is already made of copper do?

Get a better soldering iron would be a start as that is absolute a safety hazard.

anyone who knows how to solder knows when it is time to get a new tip and also you never touch the tip of your iron to the solder, you heat what your going to solder

AKA plating with copper. Soldering iron tips are too cheap to go to all this trouble. Better to just take care of it and just replace it when it's too bad to use.

Why the part from a lighter? (Any small round conductor would surely have worked?) Why stick it where you did? Why such an oversized piece of tape? Why does it work? Maybe the experienced electrician knew what he was doing - but it seems that you do not?? Why not buy a new bulb - they are cheap enough and safe what you have done is not good practice and is probably illegal.

This will work, no doubt about that. But it will fail sooner than you think and may cause a fire hazard. If you are smart enough and have the tools to do this you can go the hardware store, get a replacement plug and do it correctly and make a safe repair. If you choose a plug that requires solder, let the joint get hot enough. These joints look like 'cold solder' to me.!

Ya reparé una y duran muy poco,porque los contactos restantes se recargan y se queman hasta dos a la vez. Lógico que sirven para una emergencia.
