Thank You Mr. Zawinul for all the wonderful music. "In a Silent Way" is in my top 10. I was lucky to see you 3 times in concert, my favorite being the Weather Report "Procession" tour. You're an inspiration. Thank You.

I don't think the screaming guy at 23:35 had a girlfriend. Or if he did he didn't anymore after that.

This interview was revealing about Jaco as it was about Zawinul. Two great Gypsy style originals! One born in Norristown PA, the other from Vienna.

He practiced some English words better, than others. The problem is, that in his Viennese dialekt, P and T do not exist, there is only B and D.

This is absolutely bull shit. Being Austrian he had a straight way to say things, which some people could not handle.

I saw Jaco play with Weather Report in Cleveland, Oh back in the late 70’s. (It’s the only thing that’s “good” about being this old. Saw some of the greats!)

My wife and I met Jaco Pastorius ad his wife in Miami in March 1982, when we were boarding a 7 day cruise to the Bahamas. We later went shopping together in Nassau during one f the cruise stops. Later that night we went to the Jazz Club on the ship to listen to some jazz. During the intermission, I went up to the leader of the band and told him that the best bass man in the music industry was sitting with my wife and I in the audience, Jaco Pastorius. After the break he asked Jaco if he would come jump and sit in with band on a couple of tunes. Jaco turned the house out and got standing ovations.

Just got home from a Carl Palmer show at the Wildey Theater in Illinois, Monday, July 29, 2024. Excellent! I stumbled on this. Excellent! I played the first 3-4 minutes of this piece for a recital in college.

“One should never cry that it’s over with. One should be happy that it was.” My dad passed away last week at 85. My family and I partied and celebrated his life instead of lamenting his death. He was a happy guy.

Saw him play twice. First was time was in Iowa City, with Weather Report. And he was on! Second time was his last year with us. It was at Coconut Grove in Santa Cruz. Before the show, he walked around and said hello. In the middle, he sat at the piano to play a solo piece. It was one of the most sensitive and tonally beautiful piece I've ever heard. Thanks for this.
