Okey stupid question here :) can I use it to file my nails? Will it do any damage to the sharpener?
@brucesmith9144Ай бұрын
This is a great tool. I use that ceramic notch to keep the scissors sharp.
@brianlash1543 ай бұрын
It's always better to strop more often than sharpen The steel lasts longer and you don't remove unnecessary metal over time
@rafaeltavares69283 ай бұрын
No need to use the notch imo.. Using just the stone and then cutting paper is sufficient

You arent even getting full strokes in! Without running the entire blade on the stone there is no way youre getting that sharp!

common why evrybody useing it in the opposite way? i make my knife sharp with the rod part and with the v shape ceramic part u just make it wors and more dull.......but the v shape part can reprofile ur blade and wit a few strike on the rod u can make it even sharper.

Just bought 1 the other day and used it on a knife then dropped it & the stone broke in 3 pieces. Just got my second one and will not be dropping this one.

Do you find it is a bit more difficult to sharpen the very tip?

Yes it's not ideal for EDC use, but it's the best and compact sharpener you have in your backpack

One thing that I do is to use the ceramic notch until the blade glides on it so I know for sure that is perfect

Usually, these kind of sharpener stones are used with water. (By making it wet first, then applying the knife to the wet sharpener). Why don't we use this one with water? It is not common to sharpen knives dry.

During my service I used to simply sharpen my pocket knives against the very smooth and shiny blade of my bayonet every time I used it. It was razor sharp as long I did this.

Not really but it's still the best fieldsharpener 👍😊👊

Actualy after i am sharpening with the stone part is always sharper than after i am pulling down with the ceramic blades. So the ceramic part just make it duller than the stone. So after the stone u are just ruining.
@ashab1 Жыл бұрын
Just lightly run it across once or twice to remove burrs I have seen the ceramic blades used to sharpen serrated blades I am not sure how effective it is though.

Great little thing, it's been in my pocket for more than 12 years. Don't bother with V notch, just strop a higher angle on the thinner sides. Also, not really suitable for super steels (takes way too long to get any results).

Yes Sir. I totally agree with you. It's a fieldsharpener. The best sharpener is the one you have with you👊🧑🎄👍

I feel stupid saying this I’ve been trying to sharpen my Swiss champ and Swiss work and it just gets worse. It’s th 20 degree angle but still I just can seem to get it I don’t know why ?

Without seeing the condition that your blades are in and how you're using the sharpener, it's difficult to diagnose the problem, but I'm an experienced knife sharpener and I can confirm that this Victorinox tool is quite effective if used properly. However, all sharpening requires practice, and it took me a long time to get to a point where I felt fully skilled with several different methods, including oilstones, the Lansky fixed-angle system, diamond and ceramic rods, leather strops, honing steels etc. The best thing I can suggest is maybe finding someone local to you who is skilled at sharpening, and getting some advice or a demonstration from them - maybe a butcher or a woodworker? If that's not possible, then look at more videos, keep practicing, and maybe try a different system. This pen sharpener is fine, but it's really best for quick touch-up sharpening - for creating a whole new edge, you might do better with a Lansky kit or similar, then using the pen sharpener to maintain the edge. I hope this is helpful advice.

It could be you are sharpening at too steep an angle? - you might need to reprofile the edge.
