Where I have drawn a production function to demonstrate highest utility is at when MRT=MRS should instead be an isocost line given the example I used (I apologise for this error, I just plucked a random graph of indifference curves to demonstrate, and I had been using production functions before recording).

I Completely agree. Rousseau lay the foundations for the socialists and their views on human nature.

@@societyoflearning5571 Depends what you mean by Socialists as that’s a spectrum Neo Liberalists are modern day Jacobins Of course the real thing Rousseau and Robespierres jacobins hated was Christianity You can be a small c social conservative and be a socialist Blue Labour in Britain would be an example

@@seanmoran2743 that is true and there are very strong similarities between NeoConservatives and the Jacobins but I mainly refer to the aspects of humanity that Rousseau believed to be the foundations of human nature. Such as fraternity and cooperation. They are the a priori assumptions about human nature that 'justify' the socialist state. And it essentially justifies the violent overthrow of the existing state as a socialist would say that the selfish amongst us are only that way as a result of a 'degenerate' capitalist state.
