Nice trick and your review is very good 👍The thing that immediately came to my mind at the end was that it's a shame that the trick wasn't given 5 regular (visually identical) envelopes - with which it would be possible to replace them at the end with the obvious gimmicked envelopes, exchange. A magician will of course find a way to do this in the so-called off-beat. Because of course, after a short time to think about it, the heat will fall on the envelopes (even a double heat - otherwise why should you remove all the envelopes from the table?) ... And before this time for reflection even comes about, there are already 5 regular envelopes ready for examination. In my opinion that would have completed the trick perfectly. Unfortunately, D. Jonathan and N. Mavresis didn't think of it.
@davidjonathanmagicКүн бұрын
It’s not that it wasn’t thought of - we found that during road testing it was not necessary and it was a case of running when not being chased. Of course you can always get an extra set and switch them in if you like, or TCC could potentially offer it as an add-on if there is enough demand. But I would still recommend performing it as.
@rolfschullenberg758910 сағат бұрын
@@davidjonathanmagic For the price that the trick costs, there should be an additional 5 envelopes included from the start - and there should be no additional costs to have to buy these as an add-on that may be available. For me - and I think for many others too, it shouldn't be an add-on, but a MUST that 5 ungimmicked envelopes are included. I wouldn't be willing to spend another $35 to get these either. The trick is fun & nice, no question, but as another commenter already wrote, the ending ruins it to a certain extent. I have been doing magic for many years and always try to look at everything from the viewer's perspective. And let's be honest, even for a layman it's very obvious that the secret to the trick has to be in the envelopes (!) With ungimmicked envelopes to exchange, this could be avoided and it would be a well-rounded thing that you can actually finish with could amaze the audience.

Hello! Great and fun review. Can you recommend a size of blank business cards that can be ordered from Amazon? I can’t find blank business cards on thick stock in Norway. Double Blank Bicycle deck might work? Or will the cards be «too slippery»?

Way too magicky for me. There is way too much heat on the envelopes due to the kicker ending even with audience management.

That's exactly the point! 5 ungimmicked extra envelopes to exchange under misdirection, or off-beat, would have improved the trick by 200%.

What are some examples of the kinds of routines that can be performed? The ad copy says OTT can recreate any plot, but I'm not sure what that means in practice. For example, will it serve as a Name & Place method with no hidden dummy? Does it accomplish Desire/SneakThief? Confabulation? Thank you for this excellent review.
@niquetan12 күн бұрын
@@miltonfine5216 Yes, there is a Name/Place I can perform with the OTT as part of it. And with some thought, the other effects you mention can also be created with it, coupled with other methods of course.

Yes, I too am very keen on Luke Jermay's work and wondered about buying yet another book test. Thank you for this review, Nique. I think the routine is very creative and unusual. It also seems to end at the highest level of impossibility so there's a sense of building to a climax. I think the impact depends very heavily on scripting and presentation so this is really for a confident and eloquent actor. There is room to adapt the script to suit your personality, for example, the making of cheeky personal comments about spectators is completely unnecessary. (I always thought of Jermay as a very serious kind of guy so the humour here is a bit of a surprise.) I note that the two book set is quite reasonably priced compared to Josh Zandman's more recent releases (that seem to get more and more complicated.)
