Typical issue when the turbo encabulator failed to properly engage the base-plate of prefabulated aluminite, surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two main spurving bearings were in a direct line with the pentametric fan. The latter consisted simply of six hydrocoptic marzlevanes, so fitted to the ambifacient lunar waneshaft that side fumbling was effectively prevented. The main winding was of the normal lotus-o-delta type placed in panendermic semi-bovoid slots in the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a non-reversible tremie pipe to the differential girdlespring on the "up" end of the grammeters.

Check the torque link free play. A shimmy dampener will mask the symptom but not cure the disease. A loose torque link (scissor link) allows the shimmy to start in the first place. Pretty easy fix actually.

This was 6 six years ago. They replaced the shimmy damper and rectified the issue. (I am the OP)

I find that if you dont land on the nose it isn't a problem...
@a320nick2 жыл бұрын
There is not enough gas in the nose wheel suspension and you can control the shimmy by keeping the weight off the nosewheel (using the elevator) also you landed rather nose low... and you kept the weight actually on the nosewhell anyway which has probably caused - which is definitely the cause of the shimmy. So sort out the nosewhell Oleo and then sort out your landing technique with a good instructor.

Nose wheel shimmy is horrible. Get it fixed.
@theBamaJammer6172 жыл бұрын
The nose dropped too soon. Keep the nose high. Don't touch the brakes. Bled all the speed off of the plane. When you set the nose down, no shimmy or very little. If that doesn't stop it. Replace the shimmy damper.

Question. My first few hours (years ago) were in a Cessna 150 that had a terrible nosewheel shimmy upon landing. Someone please clarify this for me. It never did it on takeoff, only on landing....Why?
@travish42762 жыл бұрын
Because during takeoff roll, back pressure on yoke relieves weight off the nose wheel combined with lift generated that lessens weight of aircraft even as soon 25 or 30kts. Upon landing, braking action brings weight of aircraft to bear down on the nose wheel. Damper helps.
@gregmagnuson57953 жыл бұрын
Best thing to do is keep weight off the nose gear by applying back pressure on yoke during landing roll and higher speed taxi. If you apply brakes it may get worse before getting better. Check torque links for loose hardware and worn bushings before next flight. The shimmy damper can only do so much. Replacing bolts, bushings, spacers and installing shims to eliminate play in the torque link assembly will be beneficial.

Had my fist solo flight today and experience this for the first time while landing, it was kinda terrifying as everything started to vibrate A LOT.

Pull back slightly and lift the weight off the nose wheel.

Same thing happened to me on a solo flight after a harder landing and I thought I popped a tyre. Was confused when I looked at the tyres and they were fine. Some research led me to the Cessna nose wheel shimmy

This is the most annoying thing about the C-172. Almost all the ones i've flown do this. Can't ever land too flat in a 172.

@BiggieTSkinny7 жыл бұрын
Mike in this video I had a gopro stickie mount on the roof. Sadly I couldn't get a stickie mount to hold yesterday. like due to the textured roof plastic being more rigid in cooler temps. My Gopro became a passenger yesterday.

Hey, I flew my Cessna today, this is the very same problem it's been having and the same severity with time from nose wheel on the ground to pulling to a stop to stop it. Can you tell me if you found the problem and what it was? I'm about to order an entire nose gear assembly because my dad, the previous owner, flew it with such severity for a period of time that I think it's damaged more components than the dameppner.
