Well, I have to say, I am not a fan of the way Carlos treats Lilli. It was so patriarchal, even a little bit misogynistic.

@@user-ok1vf6qx4k really? I think she was just trying to brush it off, who wouldn't mind being so disrespected and in public.
@user-ok1vf6qx4k2 ай бұрын
@ytang5615 She said herself, that she often was with more dominant men. He was known to be insecure because of her bigger career. So You and I would be put off by his behavior...she was probably not. Rex Harrison, her first husband was known to be very arrogant too and also cheated on her openly. When it came to men...she was a bit submissive.

I agree...she was wonderful and charismatic in Mädchen in Uniform....a superb performance when she was at her most beautiful. I’m sad to read how Rex Harrison treated her....what a creep of a man! And English too I’m ashamed to say!

She was very pretty and especially in 1955-1960. I was particularly distressed by her film "Maddchen in uniform" because her character was very different (tragic and mysterious) that other films. It's for me the best rôle that she has ever performed. (Sorry for my level in english, I'm french)

Lilli Palmer war eine der ganz Großen zu ihrer Zeit. Sie war eine begnadete Schauspielerin, gute Schriftstellerin, erst zu nehmende Malerin, sie war ein Mensch und sie war eine großartige Dame.

I just watched this film over the weekend and it did not disappoint even with subtitles. It was a lovely, sad story and Lilli Palmer was absolutely stunning. I've become a huge fan. She was certainly a woman who was absolutely beautiful her whole life. Romy Schneider was no slouch either. What a wonderfully heartbreaking performance she gave!
