The R's are really beautiful engines. The only problem I have with them is that their too bloody powerful so the excursion trains are never heavy enough for tgem to sound like their really working 😂😂

That was a Great day, there where thousands turned up to see the Garrett at Wagga, and over the viaduct across the north Wagga flats.

Although in theory the garratts do not need turning they used to turn them on the balloon loop at Beech Forest to even out wear. Yet the turntable at Emerald is a bit of a ring in. It wasn't needed in the days of puffing billy.

I rode on a special tour behind the Climax, I thought it might be slower because of the geared motion gear but I think it ran at the same speed as an NA. I couldn’t tell the difference. That evening was very cold and my new jacket was a glorified raincoat and ineffective against the cold.

My special needs son loves trains 🚆🚂🛤🚋🚞🚝🚊🚉🚈🚇🚅🚄🚃 especially railcars like those he thinks they are highly underrated rail transportation vehicles and all should be preserved, restored, and put back into service carrying both passengers and mail on lines that are not used anymore or at least don't get passenger service. He also thinks that Siemens, Progress Rail, or any other company that builds railroad equipment should build copies of these "doodlebugs" and the departments of transportation in North America 🌎🇺🇸 should restore and rebuild railroad lines that were abandoned and/or removed and run these on them.

I am curious about why the ARE has come to an end. Not enough members to keep it going? Or some other reason? I am sad about things in life coming to an end.
