"When it comes to Fallout 3, the dialogue was.. fine," - I do not know where you got your information from, but it sure as hell wasn't from sites that found old Fallouts great. I wasn't going to even touch it after the trash tier writing that was Oblivion, but a friend, whose opinions I trusted, said that it wasn't bad. So I gave it a try. Big mistake. The whole world was populated by mid- and halfwits. The writing was so bad, I could not stomach(literally, felt sick to my stomach) the game more than an hour a day. Tried to get into it for a week, before I decided to stop torturing myself and uninstalled. Have never felt the urge to go back to this trash, even the friend that recommended it to me, later said that about quarter way in he got fed up with it as well. I can tell, that lot of your problems with the first two Fallout games came from your lack of RTFM. The lock yourself into a corner was true in the first game, but in the second, you could just right click on the person blocking your way and shove them aside.

I have tried starting this game at least 4 times and bounce of it faster than almost any other game I've ever tried every single time. I can appreciate it. But I just do not care for any of it; the controls, the combat, the enemies, the atmosphere. Just does almost nothing for me lol

Inviting a fallout fan to play 76 is a horrible ideia, i tried with one of my friend and the game is just boring, i dont play fallout to shoot things at random.

I spent more time repairing these technologically awful Bethesda games than I spent actually playing them! Modding is a pain in the... And it shouldn't be a must to enjoy anything in gaming! Todd Howard and it's stupid team of wannabe programmers wouldn't have lasted a moment in the industry before the internet, fan and official patches and mods were accessible. Imagine Bethesda passing the strict Nintendo Quality Checks 🤣 Haha, these guys suck hard!

It's just a game. Not to be taken seriously. The only people that hate them is probably people who can't or don't mod their games or just think that they should tell them how to make games and who cares....if you don't like it, don't play it. Vote with your $. They started ruining it with Fallout 76 and making it an online MMO forever paying to play a game crap.

You are probably the first person ive heard actually acknowledge the huge turn around 76 made. There are still people stuck in the year it came out who have been living under a rock and have never even tried it or know its been updated and talk about it like its still the failure it once was.

Fallout 76 doesnt look that bad, to be honest, but its just not Fallout to me. It feels so shallow in its take on the theming and atmosphere of Fallout. The whole point was that the old world is retrofuturistic and goofy to us. But to those who are having to rebuild society from the ashes of that retrofuture, they play it completely straight. Legionnaires wear football gear for armor, you can meet a gang of Elvis impersonaters, but these arent humerous to the denizens of Fallout. The Kings found a building dedicated to a man only known as the King and saw that as a reasonable foundation for leadership. Legion soldiers probably found an old gymnasium and realized that football gear makes for lightweight, durable armor. Why would Moe Cronin find out about some pre-war sport and just base his entire life and personality on the stereotype of a baseball-loving-bostonian, accent and all? Why would everyone be listening to old doowop tunes about URRRAAAANIUM FEEEEVEEERRRR? Why is the Brotherhood of Steel and Enclave in every corner of the wasteland? It feels like a misunderstood caricature of a much more nuanced take on a post apocalyptic story. Bethesda took the careful balance of black comedy spliced between open-ended struggles about rebuilding a destroyed world and turned it into a shooting gallery of choices that boil down to "nuke an entire town for no reason, or dont nuke an entire town for no reason" while Earth's entire population is sleeping in a raggedy bed next to a skeleton that they could have removed in 30 seconds.

i only like morrowind and new vegas wasnt even made by bethesda so i wouldnt say im a fan of their games. the og fallouts gameplay is archaic sure but its not bad. i was prolly younger than you are now when i played those games for the first time 12 years ago and i was stoned the whole time too but it all felt pretty intuitive ...sounds like a skill issue tbh. 2 was a good yardstick to use for the new games but 1 is a leaner and bleaker game which offers a subtle but textured contrast to its sequel also your gags and bits go on for way too long and fuck with the pace of the video. they needs to be like a tenth the length they are now if you must have them i had to stop watching by the time you got to talking about fallout 4's intro because it was getting to be too much and plus i really fucking hated the fallout 4 intro and its somehow your favorite

Fallout 76 is super underrated when it comes to its worldbuilding and story. One of my favorite pre wastelanders quest was the appalachian BOS questline. That final bit where you go to the glassed cavern finding dead brotherhood soldiers and scorched enemies only to fight a scorchbeast that comes up from the ground is a pretty cool moment.

The biggest creative sin Bethesda has made with the IP is making the world, post war US, so small and repetative. The BoS, Super Mutants, Deathclaws and Radscorpions are all grounded in the lore of the west coast. All tied to FEV, Mariposa, and the wildlife of the area. They tried new factions in 4, Minutemen, Railroad and Institute, but they are forgettable or badly written. Copy pasting BoS everywhere no matter how nonsensical cheapens them to being brandname products. They can do cool creature design like molemen and cryptid mutants, but it always boils down to Vault Tec, Enclave, BoS and Super Mutants. There is so much room to be creative, like with Caesar's Legion, but Bethesda just can't be assed.

I'm 53 minutes into this. I know I didn't hear the slightest suggestion that Fallout 4 has ANY "good" writing on offer? It is the Wonka-vator of bad writing that permeates it's every directionless direction with nary a saving grace to be found in it's constant contradictions and overall abysmal worldview. Nick Valentine is the "face of Fallout 4" and "the best" part of Fallout 4? You mean the detective that you have to play detective to find in what forces you off the main mission quest and into the tedious absurdity of fighting ghouls larping as 1930's mobsters in a 200-year-old vault for no known reason? At least Al Capone opened soup kitchens during the Depression. These morons are holding hostage a detective Synth just hired by Malone's girlfriend's parents to find out where their adult daughter is and if she's okay. All she said had to do was say: "Tell them I'm alive, all right, and not coming home." For whatever nonsensical reason...this couldn't have resulted in a polite discussion between what's implied to be two old friends (Malone & Valentine). Nah. Cause the writers would have had to use their brains in some small way that was obviously too demanding! Valentine doesn't even help you find your son with any meaningful clues that couldn't have already been provided by his assistant or any random resident of Diamond City that could acknowledge a "bald and scarred" dude used to live there with "his" kid. This while Nick's a Synth that can't give you any info on the Institute that birthed his existence. The whole point of meeting him becomes as meaningless as meeting Preston. Both just become a distraction with mission quests that have absolutely nothing to do with the main mission. "Well, I wanted to find my son. But nevermind, let's run all over the commonwealth to collect a bajillion Eddie Winter holotapes, because the robot version of the real dude has got an old score to settle with a 200-year-old defeated mob boss-turned-ghoul hiding in a literal basement." I suppose you could argue: "Well, Nick is pivotal in decoding the inner-thoughts of Kellogg's mind! This gives us teleportation & a name... Virgil!" And round we go back to the stupid writing of not only Nick but also Kellogg which I will spare critique of, because I've already ranted too much.

Nick Valentine had "Emil's Baby" written all over him: he's the most integral to the main quest, he's got the most in-depth (and most frustrating. Seriously, fuck those Winter holotapes) affinity mission, and he's directly tied to the biggest DLC. Every facet of him tell me that Nicky was Emil's favorite character, and if you'd DAMN well learn to appreciate him if you wanted to experience this game to it's fullest! So naturally I bulldoze his affinity quest for the perk as soon as I can before dumping his toaster ass on Spectacle Island with all the other misfit companions. All I need is Dogmeat, Strong, Gage, and my custom deathbot. Fuck everybody else.

01:09:09 The start of the game actually isn't either the male (Nate) or female (Nora's) earliest memory. For Nate, he knows that his great-great grandfather fought in WW2, and that he was in the army himself. For Nora it's at least some sexy time in the park that results in Shaun being born. I think there's even references to their parents/in-laws. But when asked "What's your earliest memory?" they both just forget 99% of their lives until the day the bombs fell lmao. It's a cool moment that makes you think "OMG AM I A SYNTH?" then when you remember Nate comments on an earlier memory during the bloody character creation you realise it's just a dumb moment and Bethesda wouldn't have the balls. I would like 4's story much much more if the main character actually was a synth. The ultimate experiement from the Insititue.
