96 is one of the movies which is very close to the reality...otherwise all movies are in some way the exaggeration of the normal lives of humans , just to make the Audience feel what they will feel... Because see in life you will feel emotions very easily because you are living it first hand... But to just feel that emotion by watching something, it needs to be exaggerated... But 96 is unlike any other films... Because the feeling of first love is some feeling which is , i believe is one of the strongest feelings of humans... You do not need much stimulation for you to feel the way you felt about your forst love in the past... I believe just their name ,or some incident or even a minute thing about your first love will not just make you remember the times but also the feelings you had gotten back then... So to bring it to the next level, 96 is the movie about first love... Which is unsuccessful.... Again humans remember what they lost more than what they have...so this is the most raw and the deepest feeling one can ever feel...so it taps that part of everybody who has experienced... For those who have lost their first love and are still friends with them and the other person has had feelings towards them in some point of time in the past... Its like their part of life...which we dont know if we should consider it the saddest or the happiest part... Its like they own the movie more then the makers of this movie!
