I used to be a huge U2 fan in the 80's and 90's but some bands just hang on too long. Kiss is another example.

There is a typical “U2 sound” like the sound of the police or the Door, a sound you hear once and you realise “this is something new, there wasn’t something like that before”. Well if you pay attention it is not the vocals of Bono what makes U2 unique, it is the way the Edge plays his guitar, you can find it in almost all the songs of U2. The Edge is maybe not the best guitarist of all times (there are much betters than him) but he is unique in his creations, he is very creative, combines piano with guitar, he is one of my favourites musicians, I like his sound even more than jimmy page (who is, in fact, a better guitarist). But the Edge I don’t know, there is something special something hypnotic in his sound. What a talent!
