I have one of these and have never had a bridge like this. Would've been helpful to see you actually do all the adjustments, set the action etc. How much you had to adjust. What you used to loosen/tighten those big screws, which way they turn for looser/tighter etc. lt seems like your aim was to do a general setup video. I only found this because I searched for an Eastwood Univox setup video. There are plenty of general setup videos but none specifically for this guitar
@stillkickinmusic
@stillkickinmusic 6 күн бұрын
sure. Look at 9:20 in the video. Off to my left on the table you'll see the large slotted screwdriver I use when adjusting such a wraparound bridge. Also, know that loosening is counter-clockwise and will raise string height. Tightening clockwise will lower the strings. In addition, it may help to loosen the strings slightly if you encounter a lot of resistance trying to turn them. and be careful not to let the screwdriver slip and scratch the guitar. Please see this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnaUZXiDgbt0gc0 where I adjust the height of same type of wraparound bridge on a LP Junior at 3:45. Hope that helps. good luck!

what if the headstock doesn’t have any logo on it? and telecaster cost £100.
@stillkickinmusic
@stillkickinmusic 7 күн бұрын
it could be a "no-name" guitar, some cheap guitars may have no logo on the headstock. Or it could be someone replaced the neck on a real Fender Tele body. maybe the original neck broke, etc and they replaced it with a cheap one that has no logo. You can take the neck off the body and look at what's in the neck pocket. you can usually tell if you've got a real Fender body by what's in the neck pocket or sometimes even the electronics cavities.

Dude! This video rocks! I just got my guitar back from Guitar Center and it completely sucks! I really don’t know what the guy did. But I’ve noticed that the neck has a bow in it and also it just won’t stay in tune. Any suggestions?
@stillkickinmusic
@stillkickinmusic 9 күн бұрын
thanks for the kind words. it's ok for a neck to have some bow. Just don't want too much. If you site down your neck and it dips like a big U shape under your strings it may be too much bow. You can get a cheap feeler gauge like I use in the video and learn how to check your own neck relief. It's a handy skill to have. If there are tuning problems it could have to do with the way the tremolo is set up. Also one of the first things I look at is the nut. Often it's due to a poorly cut nut where there strings don't slide easily. You can test it by taking each of your strings off its tuner then slide the string back in forth in the nut. If you feel any binding or resistance you'll need to take a file and slightly widen the nut slot. Any binding in the nut will cause tuning issues. Please see this video I made on tuning issues: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZ6zaXSDbtaDm8U

I have a 2007 VMP-TB bass. I know. it's a ridiculous name. It's a Tele Bass. It has a "Basswood" body with ash veneer. I had an all rosewood neck made for it from USA Custom Guitars. What a tone !!! Almost like they just wanted to include the Precision name in there for some reason. Anyway, I see they have the one big mudbucker up near the neck. When would you consider changing the bridge? There are those with individually adjustable slots, or these similar to your bridge but with a groove that kinda follows an optimal intonation. I don't get why certain guitars can be intonated with that stock bridgw and others require different bridges, if we are talking about the literal same guitar with the same geometry. I am considering buying a LP junior but i don't want to go crazy trying to adjust the intonation, but maybe thats just trying be to precise.
@stillkickinmusic
@stillkickinmusic Ай бұрын
Hi, it's because some are set up at the factory with perfect intonation with that set bridge. Others are off. For those, you either live with it being slightly off, like many do, or you can buy an aftermarket. bridge that has adjustable saddles, or you can try a tailpiece with the Allen screw adjustments, which is not quite as accurate, but works pretty well too. The "lightning" tailpiece is the one with grooves that may also get it a little closer but it's not adjustable at all. But bottom line, Juniors are awesome gutiars.If exact intonation is important to you, you might get lucky with one from the factory, or if not have to buy another bridge. cheers!

Cannot thank you enough, how are you with troublesome telecaster bridge buzz?
@stillkickinmusic
@stillkickinmusic 2 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for stopping by. I have had some Tele's with some bridge buzz. For me it usually ended up being a saddle screw that was a little loose. You have to make sure (if they are barrel saddles with 2 screws) that both screws are making solid contact with the bridge, or they can buzz. Also springs on the intonation screws can buzz if they don't have enough tension on them. after that it becomes just checking pickup screws and everything else to make sure nothing is loose or rattling. I've had some weird situations, where I can't find a buzz/rattle and turned out to be a slightly loose strap peg or string tree--anything can buzz. You can check out this one video where I go over some rattle/buzz info: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5S3oJKoptB6f5Y cheers

yea, so you're saying floating the 6-screw bridge is not really ideal. I'm not surprised. I think with careful attention to the nut slots and bridge saddles so there is no friction and careful tremolo adjustment (and knowing how to play a floated bridge) they can be made semi-workable, but I'm no expert as I just always deck the ones I set up just for simplicity and tuning stability. thanks!

ok, please expand. my only point here is lying decked to the body you've got more tuning stability than floating....
@bluwng
@bluwng 2 ай бұрын
@@stillkickinmusic if you dive the bridge having it decked won’t return the tuning to pitch. The only thing the instrument responds to is the last state it was in, example, if you stretch the strings aggressively and tune your guitar this way it will stay in tune no matter how hard you bend regardless if it floating or decked, next if you dive and tune dive and tune no matter how much you dive the guitar will remain in tune independent if it is decked or floating but as soon as you bend a string or pull up you are out of luck. Same theory if you float the guitar and tune to pull ups. The vibrato bridge setup is a system and dependent on the state in which you set it up. No matter what snake oil people promise you can never get it to remain in tune with all 3 scenarios Bend/Dive/Pull Up that is why you have to decide how you will play and use the vibrato so you can choose the best configuration for your needs. Double locking system is only minimally affected by this almost unnoticeable.
@stillkickinmusic

@@bluwng I think I get what you're driving at. the only thing I notice is floating bridges have some room for error, where if not set up just right (or played just right) they will not even return it to whatever that initial state was. They will return all strings slightly sharp or flat. Decked gets rid of that problem.
