I grew up in Boston around this time but was never exposed to great music like this because I was slightly too young. First time I heard No Place Like Home was on an album called DIY- Mass. Ave - The Boston Punk Scene from 75-83. Some really great bands on that album, Real Kids, Nervous Eaters, Mission of Burma, Human Sexual Response, and of course, The Neighborhoods. Oh yeah, and a little band called The Cars.

This is great to watch. Man, David’s been doin it for a long time! I was in 6th grade in Miami in 1979! But I grew up to become a fan and enjoy the Hoods when I moved to Boston in 1990.

After watching this for a decade or so, I just now noticed that the guitar and bass cords have been edited out. At the 19 second mark, you can see the guitar is plugged in.

I got to play with the Hoods, the Lads, the Atlantics, the Eggs, Human Sexual Response, the Probers, Lou Miami & the Kosmetics, the Gluons, the Outlets, Rubber Rodeo, LaPeste, the Stompers, the Moderns. Nervous Eaters, the Real Kids. . . can't remember them all. We were The REPUTATIONS. THE CHANNEL, LINCOLN PARK BALLROOM, BUNRATTY'S, THE RAT, PARADISE, THE LIVING-ROOM, METRO. . . there is more. We all took turns opening or closing the show. One big happy competitive family!

I'm a high school teacher. Have been for thirty years. When I put this video on, ALL the kids STOP and LOOK, and LISTEN. Why? Because this is so good, honest , real and raw and because it is TIMELESS. The Hoods were great then. They are almost even better now. Dave is the frontman's frontman!

I'm about a decade late to be 20 years late for this comment, but who is the second guitarist in this video? Just a show pony for the vid? Saw the Hoods a few times back in the day and been listening to them for a long time .... I thought it was always a three man show. Amazing to stumble across this now.

If any of you have followed the Hoods for a long time you might remember a guy who was their biggest fan named Mike Oliver, Steel Tip alumni, he passed away on Tuesday 12/7 in Woonsocket RI.

My brother John was the bass player. In the fall of 1979, I visited him one weekend, and Dave Minehan asked me if I wanted to be a roadie. Dave Minehan, Mike Qualia, my brother John, Og, Chuck and I all lived together in a big house in Scituate MA. We did a lot of shows. What a great experience.
