Nothing is wrong with speaking your mind. But, before you speak on someone else's culture, you straighten your own first. Dancehall music for the past couple of years was crap. Nothing up lifting. All they yap about is bad man, GUNS, luxury cars, clothes, and most popular, woman parts( whine up on this/that, etc. How can Buju criticize the afrobeat and not his own dancehall folks for their contents? He is either one-sided ,selfish, or jealous of the upcoming trend.

Music is there to educate the people to wake up from their slave postraumatic colonial slave syndrome mentality .All Buju want to do in his music is to educate the people wake them up from their sleep and slumber. Buju intentions is to inspire Africans in the continent to wake up the need to wake up is overdue eg stop the xenophobia amongst each other . AFRICAN MUSICIANS need to do better its not about jealousy it's about accountabolity and the reality. African Jamaicans have struggled over the years to inspire and wake up Africans from their colonial mentality Its about time Africans in the continent do the same .

Afro beats cannot raise our consciousness of our people. They are not singing nothing of substance but garbage if it wasn't for bob Marley, peter Tosh ,buju banton Culture and other conscious Jamaican musicians some of us would be so lost in our eurocentric/ asiacentric ideologies . With their shallow hyprotical mentality these Afro musicians haven't taken any inspiration from Fela kuti and Lucky Dubai , as inspiration in their music .Afro beat would be pushed because of the agender to influence in a negative way and not in a positive way . Obviously the creator of this video and many others eg look in the comments section are expressing themselves under the influence of the negative afro beat music. No I'm not jealous I am under the influence of conscious uplifting roots and culture reggae music that inspire and teach me so much: inspiring/ educating my mind to free up myself from the slave/ colonial postraumatic sydrome / mentality

When Buju Banton speaks African musicians should sit up and pay attention. Is your music uplifting Africa in its struggles or is it just brainless f**kery? What is your message to the youth and how will you be remembered?

He is just jealous. How many africans artists did he collaborated with in his heydays? He really don’t understand afro beats, by saying it had no impact on people’s lives. Singing abt sensitive issues like politics can hinder your career. That’s why most artists don’t want to talk abt it. They ( Buju Shabba etc) start dissing the gay community that when their career start taking a dive. most of the time i listen to music to feel happy not to be inspired. I went to a jamiaca house party yrs ago. It was my friend’s mum birthday. I asked her why aren’t they playing afro beat? she told me most of their people don’t like it. I was shocked. I kw she personally likes it but trust me not even one afro beat song was played there. They are just jealous. simple as that.

Afro beats just has no diversity or intricacies in terms of production or subject matter. It will fade into obscurity similar to dance hall in the 2000s once Sean Paul fell off

Yes dancehall fell off but had good run afrobeats will fade much quicker,it's ok nothing special it can't even stand next to 80s 90s soca that had lyrics, catchy so it definitely can't against dancehall

Reggae artists didn't become conscious until Marley started copying American artists such as Curtis Mayfield & WAR. Before then they were just like Afrobeats. Even the Afrobeats creator was influenced by American civil Rights icons. Buju needs to learn history.

Kno the difference or don't speak: Reggae is for the soul (conscious, social commentary, etc.) Dancehall (like the new afrobeat) is just for feel good That was his point and 100% CORRECT

But he didn’t say make Reggae music did he?😏. So his point is, making music with message, didn’t specify what genre you should make that in. Whole point is MESSAGE.
