Baby in womb when nuclear war occurs. The threat of nuclear war was a real concern at that time. 80's was one of the most dangerous periods of the cold war, although the general public didn't know how close it came until years after the cold war was over.

Cal-Jam. Yep saw it on TV as a sophomore in school. It was another for the ages. Didn't care for Richie Blackmore trashing his gear (Deep Purple).

This a bit of a niche song for a Marillion newbie. Its basically written about a night when they played at Montreal and a favourite song went wrong for H when the technology crashed and he went crowd surfing instead. That particularly song/incident is on youtube also, "this strange engine" live in Montreal. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5ndgohsgrybp5Ifeature=shared

This song was used for by Alan Parker for « Birdy » a movie about war and its damages with Nicolas Cage and Matthew Modine: Birdy returns from the Vietnam War scarred from the horrific experiences of battle. He is so damaged by what he saw that he has shut himself off from reality completely, imagining that he is actually a bird. Birdy is confined to a mental hospital, where the doctors are at a loss as to how to treat him. In an attempt to help, Al, his best friend from high school -- and who was also in Vietnam -- visits him every day to try and get through to him.

Cute little video. Reminds me of a comment I've read in last 24 hrs on another TWA vid, probably also Black Holes:- This 4 year old girl runs crying into the kitchen one morning to check on the iPad that The Warning were real and not just in a dream !!! The Warning are the one in a billion counter example to "things that seem too good to be true, are just too good to be true". Enjoy that concert, at 9 years old your daughter will really appreciate the live concert.

I've been a Dorothee Pesch Fan for years than you've been alive. But the one thing EVERYONE MISSES IN THIS VIDEO is the Bass Player, he does something I have never seen before when he did it, and haven't seen SINCE.

A fucking great tune solo covered by what's looking like a true musical force of nature. Pau along with her sisters are a world class rock band, but yeah, Paulina is exceptional 😎

such a great band. utterly unique. yes, I know that's what unique means. I wish more people knew this era. I love this approach... I always want to hear the studio version first. hear the original intent. they figured out how to play it live later.

You should watch all of the songs from this band live and especially "Hate" where the drummer "kills" it. Nothing like 'em. The drummer (Lee Harris) is marvelous and the bassist (Paul Webb) is a blast to watch. Mark was a genius with a distinctive voice. RIP.

Well, in 13/8 time, it really can't be considered a straight-forward pop kind of single. Phil had divorced about two years prior to this. But he's never gone long without a girlfriend. Three Sides Live refers to the US version of the double record album. Three sides were live tracks and the fourth side were studio B-sides and other completed songs that didn't make it on to the albums.

The Montreal Canadians on top of it, Ryan? ;-) I met Queensryche at the time of The Warning album (high school). This concept album was literally a bomb when I got a copy... and learning it was recorded in the Laurentides (Le Studio, Morin Heights). Wow!

You mentioned Phil Collins not working on this song, but in 1982, I was at the Universal Amphitheater. When Gabriel started performing Kiss of Life, Collins came out from backstage, gave Peter a hug and sort of danced around the stage while the song closed the show. My piano teacher said the song had an unusual time signature: 6/8 whatever that means.

If you ever feel like doing a follow-up to this video, watch 2 songs after this at the same show: Emperor - Majesty of the Night Sky @ Wacken 2006. You mentioned here that you couldn't really hear the keyboard player. It was definitely a little more subtle in Strength. One of its strongest parts was the "choral" synths during the crazy fast part in the middle. But in Majesty of the Night Sky, it is up front and a key part of the song. And whereas Strength featured more clean vocals backed by the keyboard player's vocals, Majesty is wide open on the screaming growling vocals enhanced by the bass player's signature howling growl vocals. Fantastic stuff.
