I love these Jerry Hahn videos that you've posted. I grew up in Wichita, where these were filmed, and heard this group live a lot. I was probably there a couple of years after these were recorded, but he was playing with Glen and Jeff, playing the Guild acoustic with a pickup through 2 tube heads and a couple of speaker cabs. Incredible player and I always left his gigs inspired. Thanks for the trip back in time

Hey cool thanks! I recorded these and posted them and we may have crossed paths back then too. I was friends with Jerry and we even shared a house at 13th and Waco around 1982 for a while. (Yeah, it brings me back too) I'm a pro musician in my home town of Chicago now. I recorded many others at The Foundry (audio only) and have those posted also, cheers.

He got the most out of every part of an instrument . Saw Roy Clark interview when he got back from a Russia tour . He learned to play thier sound on traditional music which includes thumping the top of the guitar .

My first date with my wife was at a Danny Gatton Show. Our first dance was to this song. She was a goddess and it was the single most exquisite moment of my life. On that night I happened to bring at tele with me. Danny sat at our table on his break. He autographed my guitar. My wife beat me to the great gig in the sky. I’ll never forget that moment listening to the finest guitarist in the world while falling in love with my wife.

Watergate lawyer, Douglas Caddy reported on the Dark Journalist youtube channel that JFK was assassinated because he was going to tell the Russians about the “alien presence “. His client, E. Howard Hunt told him that.

Some how the earliest Danny Gatton videos seem more modern than when he was older, also weird to see him with a gibson! He is my guitar idol I will never approach a fraction of his abilities 🤘🤘

PS 2 things jump out about his playing listening to this (aside from his colossal chops): One, his killer rhythm, clean, defined, powerful, like a freight train barrelling down the track, but with utter relaxed ease. Two, his incredible palette of color, tone, and texture, like a whole orchestra in one guitar-often when playing rhythm, he is alternating between laying down a bass line and then screaming out chords like a horn section.

Just his rhythm guitar comping alone is mesmerizing. But when he takes a solo, baby hold the phone…. DC Danny, you are immortal!!!

This is the best tone I've ever heard from Gatton. Why, oh why did he stray from the Les Paul? His tone overall is not country- it's rockabilly with the thick reverb and slap-back. The Bardens are not bad I guess but this tone here is ridiculous.
