this has to be some of the oldest air recording we have of howard yeah? this was only a few weeks before he became “hopalong howie.” it’s wild listening to this after seeing private parts a ton, he really did a great impersonation of his amateur self in the film.

Why any private person can own a gun in the US just does my head in. I was 12 years old and there was a life before and a life after John Lennon. I hope nobody ever mentions this sickos name ever again, because he did it for fame. May he rot in prison for the rest of his senseless life.

I was eating dinner at a restaurant I worked in when someone came to the table and told us. My first words were “who would shoot a Beatle?” Then I got drunk and spent days crying off and on. I think I almost bought the ranch that night. I also took a tranquilizer and remember sleeping and sleeping. It was a horrible time.

I was at home preparing to go to work when my Dad came in from his night shift and told my Mother and myself what had happened to John, we were all in shock. Says it all when more than 40 years on from this act of senseless violence we are still talking about John, still listening to his music, and next week the box set of his Mind Games album comes out. Was a hero of mine as a kid. The Beatles music means so much to me, those guys always brought and still do bring joy to this world.....

I was 20 at that time. Never have got over it. No coincidence that Reagan had just been elected. Lennon would have had things to say and millions of young people would have listened.

It's heartbreaking that Lennon, who took such pride in living without bodyguards and felt so safe and free in NYC, met such a tragic end. He had truly adopted the city as his home. Then a troubled individual from the Bible Belt in the deep South traveled all the way to NYC to carry out this devastating act.

I was 18 when John Lennon was shot. Mark Chapman is up for parole again next month. I urge everyone reading this to reach out to the New York State Parole Board and ask them to keep Chapman locked up. If he gets released, Chapman will be a danger to Yoko, Julian and Sean, not to mention Ringo and Sir Paul McArtney. doccs.ny.gov/form/letters-in-support-or-opposition
