Is that Duck Creek where it crosses the JMT a few hundred feet north of where the Duck Pass trail intersects with the JMT?

No need to add s to the SIERRA a single mountain range! Thanks for a nice video!

We did this hike when I was about 15 and it was about a 8 hour trip up and back down so you have to be in pretty good shape and be prepared. Things can change quickly in the mountains and there is a lot of awkward footings especially where you have to walk over the waterfall. Thanks for bringing back many memories of that trip. I am the only one still alive of the 6 of us who went there. I can still remember a lot of it and this video helped.

Excellent video Josh! I was able to get a really good idea of the course from this and have put Ventura on my very short list of potential fulls to run in 2025.

Glad to hear it was helpful. This is a great course for someone trying to PR. It is one of the top BQ races. Good luck witb your races and training

Great video. Will be trying out this exact pace in two weeks at the Ventura Marathon. Trying to BQ for the first time. Any tips?
@JoshuaASharp11 ай бұрын
The course starts off fairly flat with a slight incline on parts of the loop before you start the bike path. There is a nice gradual downhill after about mile 11 that will let you catch up or even bank a little time. It flattens out in the last 6 miles and when you are sore and tired, it tends to feel like a slight uphill. Try to save a little for this last part. I find that I run better when running by effort and not strictly by pace. If you want to run an 8 minute mile average, let your pace slow on the uphills to like 8:10 or 8:15 and then make it up on the gentle downills by running loke 7:45. You tend to not burn out as easily this way and doesn't cause such a large build up of lactic acid in the muscles. I will be pacing the 3:30 group this year, so come say hi!

What was your peak mileage per week and longest run in the weeks leading up to this? Thx
@JoshuaASharp Жыл бұрын
I do a variety of training. I am mostly interested in ultra training. I honestly don't remember my mileage, but often times I average around 50 miles a week with my longest runs specially for marathon training being around 20 miles close to race pace the whole time. For ultras, I usually run back to back days. Often I will do a slow 30 mile run, followed with a 20 miler again slow. Those weeks are more like 70-80 miles weeks. Sometimes I will alternate a bike ride in place of the run during the middle of the week.

You can pay extra for them to have it at the start line. I believe when you register, there is an option for it. I believe it is $20 extra. I am local for this marathon and just picked it up on Saturday instead

These are near Lancaster, CA just outside of the official Antelope Valley Poppies preserve. Anytime California gets more than usual amount of rain for the season, you tend to have Superblooms like this one.

Thank you for that. I just inherited a 1920 roadster and a 1927 tourer from my Dad. Never really cared much for either one of them, but now that they are in my shop the tourer is growing on me, so I'm watching model T videos trying to figure it out.

This time of the year we didn't see any. It was nice temperatures too, but expect high possibility for rain showers. Most of them were brief but rather heavy showers

May i ask what type or model of drone you used on this video?
@JoshuaASharp Жыл бұрын
I have the DJI Mini 2. It is one of a few drones that are under 250 grams, so it doesn't require a special license unless it is used for anything other than recreational purposes

love it! you actually do a great service by posting this because other runners get to see the course and decide if it's the right race for them. Do you think is a good race to try a sub 3hrs? and I don't see that many hydration stations, did you felt at any time that you needed more? Thanks!!
@JoshuaASharp2 жыл бұрын
This course had to be modified from previous versions due to issues with permits and road closures. Hopefully the 2023 version will be the same as the pre-covid route that ends near the mission in Ventura. This course was my current PR (2:55:42) when I was finishing before around the 3:02 time on other courses. I believe the pre-covid route is the fastest marathon course in the area.

There are plenty of water stations during the race, I just didn't record all of them in the video due to limited storage and battery in my camera. Hope you come run this. It is a great event

Cool video but the soundtrack sucks. The sound of the waves breaking would have been much better than adding a soundtrack.
@JoshuaASharp2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately the drone doesn't record sound since the motor would be too loud. I didn't have any stock sounds of the ocean and you have to pay for premium songs. I just do these for fun and was mostly focused on the video footage. I am always open to feedback to help my videos improve. Thanks

I'd love to have a Model A someday. Ts are... a little TOO primitive, even for me. An A drives just like a regular manual car, minus the spark lever.
@JoshuaASharp2 жыл бұрын
I agree, they are more difficult to drive. My Dad also has a 1929 and a 1930 Model A, but one is getting bodywork and painting. The second youngest granddaughter has already told everyone that it is her car, so it is parked at her house most of the time!
