It's shocking and heartbreaking to see what happened there. I'm glad you fared as well as you did!

Kind Lady, I suggest you remove the words luck and lucky from your vocabulary and replace them with words like blessed, miraculously spared by God, etc. I did that years ago. To me, there is no such thing as luck - good or bad.

All of those trees will make you a lot of excellent firewood. Happy for you that your beautiful cabin wasn’t damaged. If the odor lingers in your freezer, stuff it with newspapers after you’ve cleaned and disinfected it. Leave it for a while. The papers absorb the smell. That odor is nauseating; I had a freezer full of meat go bad from lack of electricity and I gagged and gagged cleaning it out! Bless you!

You were so lucky to not have any major damage to your cabin. Hopefully you won’t have to replace your refrigerator. I am from the Northshore of New Orleans. We had a hurricane a few years back and I left chicken in our office break room refrigerator. Of course we lost power and I know all too well that Rancid smell. We bleached, cleaned with kitchen spray, put in lemons and The smell just lingered. It was awful. I was thinking where is she going to put that black bag with the chicken. I guess there is trash pickup at your cabin. I thought that will keep the bears away. Praying for all those who lost their homes and those lives lost.

What I am seeing a great deal of is compassion where others are helping people out. I cannot believe some of the size of the rocks that have come crashing down my heart is in my mouth every time I view one of these videos.

FYI....Feminine douche will remove bad odors in a fridge. We used it once on a fridge, then took it outside, opened the doors and let the sun shine on the interior. Worked like a charm.

Since you don't have heat, you will need to drain all of your pipes and water heater of water. Otherwise, your pipes will split if they freeze.

So glad your place wasn't damaged. It was hard to tell who needed it more as we are all the way across the country but when we prayed about it and searched on the internet, we decided to donate our monthly tithe to Spruce Pine First Baptist Church. It sure looked like they had a well-organized program going on and I hope they were able to help a lot of people. Continued prayers for everyone still dealing with so much.
