Thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding on alive 2007 that they used lemurs. After face to face/aerodynamic in the dark (moment 42:40), you can see the reflection of the screen from Tom's helmet, and alive is really running there. And how they click on the touch screen is also visible

Saw them at Coachella in ‘06 and, if I’m being honest, wasn’t even the top act I was looking forward to that weekend. However, once that show started, everyone in the crowd knew we were witnessing something unique. I remember I was with somebody who was on the record as “not liking Daft Punk” who 20 minutes into that show turned to me and said “this is incredible”. Yeah, it was good. A lot of people put it as their number one live music memory. While I wouldn’t go that far, it easily makes the top 5.

Fuck cell phone footage. At the show and on the internet. Why would I want to hear my favorite artists recorded by a phone in a crowd?
@emilywagner870422 күн бұрын
Hey look, I'm not judging your opinion, I'm tired of a bunch of cell phones in a crowd to. But like, think about this frame of it. There's a small but dedicated group of people on KZbin that record full sets in the best quality they can manage. This isn't new, before KZbin it was DVDs, and before DVDs it was VHS and tapes. This channel is one of them. Not everyone can make it to a show like this. Due to poverty, disabilities, obligations and responsibilities, bad luck, you name it, You shouldn't have to be able bodied and have disposable income to enjoy art. This just lets the people that can't make it there, enjoy something a little special, and not feel so left out from the rest of y'all. Additionally tracking the progression of an artist is really fun and interesting, notice how GJones hasn't taken this video down? It's not the smaller view count, any manager is going to search for youtube videos of the of sets they manage I go to alot of shows and festivals and I owe to these people for showing me what was around me and who to look out for, it's not the same as being there, but 's not supposed to be

Was at 2007 in Nîmes France in the Arenas Daft Punk concert and it still gives me goosebumps listening to it. It was like a wonderful joyful party and we were blown away by the bootlegs/mix they did so smartly. It never went down but kept on growing until the end. The sound was massive, the entire town could hear it to a point we had to put some cotton in our ears to not be deaf after. We definitely felt it! One of the best concert of my life !

I discovered Fresh Static Snow at a very low time in my life. Yes the meaning of the song is very sad, but it made me realize that I'm not the only one who feels this way. Life has its highs and lows. I now live life for the highs and try to remember that the lows will pass.

If I may offer a bit of potential insight that might allow you to put that into an even more optimistic perspective; Everything we experience as humans, is related to activity in the mind (or soul, depending on your perspective) but we are somehow awarded in life a conscience, that allows freedom of thought, expression( and experience. And all of those events are thanks to our senses, which exist thanks to our nervous system. We see, feel, hear, smell etc etc. But the single point of significance in us having any sensation at all is due to our ability to notice contrasting stimuli. We notice pleasure due to how different is feels compared to pain. And likewise, we experience happiness and content, due to how it contrasts with the low depression memories we have. Its all relative to the polar opposites of our experience. You cannot have joy and happiness your entire life, or it would be meaningless, cause you wouldnt be able to even recognize why its so special to feel happy. Just though for food. 🤷♂️

I was there at this show, we had no idea about the pyramid. The thing about this particular festival that year is it happened just as the financial crisis was taking hold so a lot of people couldnt afford it as people were losing their jobs all across the city. Wireless as a festival also hadnt taken off and wasnt really well known. So while the crowd looks huge you had a lot of space to dance around with your friends. This was in itself an amazing thing, most large festivals at that time meant you were getting squashed and dealing with a lot of douche bags in the crowd. Earlier that day LCD Sound System played on a sunny afternoon, this was the first time I had seen them at a festival. I had seen them a bunch of times in venues like Brixton academy where they were incredible. The crowd didnt seem to know LCD and didnt really respond well to the music. The crowd was a bit disappointing but I put it down to LCD not really figuring out the festival performance at that time. I saw LCD in SF at Goldcen Gate park and more recently in Oakland and yes, they were legendary. Sub Focus also had his hit "Rock It" drop around that period and was djing at the same festival. Lots of fun. I've got a bunch of great 35mm photos taken during this particular show on black and white film. It was with a cheap Olympus Muji film camera that I used for all of my gigs.

I went to lolla just for this show, an act I thought I would never get to see live, and I got to see the ultimate daft punk performance. When I walked in the gates that day as they opened, about 1000 people joined me in walking straight to the main stage and waited all day long. There wasn't a single artist I would give up my front row spot for. I started crying about 5 minutes into the show, and didn't stop till the next day.

Very interesting! So you're saying that the screens were just passive monitors for them to be able to see what clips they were launching in Ableton and so on? And the fact that there's two of them is just redundancy, or do you think there's two different softwares being displayed?
@zzyzx133 ай бұрын
Redundancy for sure, it's hard to make a auto-failover redundant video rig today nevermind doing it in 2006.
@ArtistiqueMusic3 ай бұрын
Not sure if this was a feature back then, but if you press CTRL + SHIFT + W, you can open Ableton on 2 monitors, one with session view, and one with Arrangement view, so it's possible that if they did arrange the set in arrangement view, that they may have been doing this?
@zzyzx133 ай бұрын
@@ArtistiqueMusic nah, there's an A and B on the monitors and they show the same content: redundancy.
