The place where I live has nesting pair of barn owls on farm each year. But sadly the two large fields wich it hunts on have been ploughed over and was rough grassland. Wich barn owls like. They are not attracted to over farmedland. Also the meadow has been ploughed over . I used to spend hours watching them quartering the rough grass land. They still come on but go further field to hunt. Putting up nest boxes is only the start they also have to have plenty of fields and hedges to hunt along as well. And they do have a liking for old stone derelict buildings. Every where I go now along farms land where there are barn owls. The areas of rough grassland seem to be getting smaller.

They will nest in a modern barn if an owl box is put somewhere dark and quite

Never use sunflower oil its trash n chemically extracted ie bad taste n health. Use avocado 🥑 oil mix.

Have spotted one in Middlesbrough at the back of Aldi over scrub land, plenty of grass for small mamals to keep it's tummy full .

I hoped that the precise ingredients & their Quantities would be listed in the description. It's annoying having to go back and forth wondering why doesn't mine end up looking like THAT? Do you know big the field with voles and mice needs to be in average that it provides enough food for the owl and its family? I want to set up a nest box at the edge of a small city. I am not if the designated field is big enough.

@@Manojkumar-nl4ze but they use tents mainly because of the landscape, it would look strange if they used shepherds huts also the land their cattle uses mostly belongs to other people and they don’t always take kindly to them as they have their own cattle using the land , I have had some great conversations with the skilful herders they also services such as wool garments ,households and even labour work.

Is there a risk that predators would eat young owl chicks in the nest box? Is squirrel or cats predators for owl chicks?

To prevent predation by raccoons it helps to have a 'hallway' entrance feature as it prevents the reach in and grab. The prevent squirrel issues cut a block of wood to fit over the entrance.

There are many ways to make fries. 2 things that are a must is skin to be left on. And choice of oil Sunflower or peanut. But anyway I could be used
