For dot cases, you can skip them by recognizing them before you insert last pair and skip it by inserting with sledgehammer.

I know I'm late, but yes, ZB is better than ZZ-a. If you're willing to learn 800 algs, ZB is better because you have easier look-ahead and better ergonomics at the start of the solve, which makes it faster considering that they have almost the same movecount.
