Water cooling is simple, reliable and keeps the overall size down without the need for fins. These are twin cylinder, high revving motors and water cooling is the most practical design.

What DO you see wronge with this guy, he doing something that is absolutely a No No in every engine Manual? i will explain, simply Never Ever Run Any Engine At High Rev's in Neutral, this in fact does Damage to the Engine Internally. every time you rev a outboard especially a two stroke in neutral you are doing damage to the unit, including Crankshaft bearings , Rod Bearings, these are High Reving Engines when you rev them up in neutral the internal parts are moving to fast. everytime you rev your doing damage, outboards are very suceptable to damage from over revs in neutral. stating this, people are sucked into buying the junky new outboards that are lightweights and the cost of repairing them even at home is out of this world. they now have (discontinued) many parts for Johnson -Evenrude outboards from 1973 to 1998 why because they are assholes and force you to buy the new junky motors that require computers like cars to determine issues on the electrical side. fourstrokes are junk and very ugly in appearence have no speed at all, a 25 old Johnson two stroke will outspace any 35 hp fourstroke in existance today. the two strokes are easier to repair, and frankly get a fourstroke and yes quieter and more fuel efficient but like all four strokes these have valves and Camshafts and when the valves wear down and rings in the cylinders start wearing you will have s mile of blue smoke puluting the air across the lake. generally speaking with a old two stroke you can crosshatch the cylinders and replace the rings and your good for 20 years and replacing the crank bearings is easy they come apart fast and simple. The Johnson and Evinrude two stroke outboards from 1973 to 1998 where the best most dependable outboards ever manufactured all which , and most people that own them don't know this, these outboards where built for heavy duty use all of them. now we have no more Johnson or Evinrude because they where stupid in reality no one likes fourstrokes no one they are junk. two strokes are returning now and are becomming popular again. Their is nothing wrong with points either, they are better then what new outboards are using now since EMP'S have no effect on Point system engines they will run even if you are in a Electro Magnetic Field all the new engines on boats will all be dead in the water if their is a EMP field.

That's a bullet proof outboard. My dad and I had one for years. When it was sold it still ran fine. That one looks like the impeller is getting a little weak.

Heeft u ooit de impeller van deze motor vervangen? En kwam toen de aandrijfas los uit het staartstuk of vanuit het motorblok? Bij mij zit die namelijk vast in het motorblok en ik vraag me af of dit hoort.

That engine drastically needs a decent service but do a compression check first before you waste money.
