As long as you rinse your rod and reel off at the end of the day you won't have any corrosion. Buying an expensive Van Staal is unnecessary.

Have used 25 V7500 spinfishers on our charter boat for the past 9 years, 890 charter days. The only thing we have had to replace is bail arms, and bail arm springs, the rest is still going strong, unbelievable reels for chartering. Had we had this unavailable here bailless model, we would have needed zero service

Just started tinkering with making these as a winter project. When adding my weights, how should I my plug float in the water? More or less at a 45 degree angle? Great channel and great tips on making these plugs.

Awesome video, how light of a plug can you throw on this rod? Probably going to grab the 8ft for fishing back bays and stuff. The rods I have for chunking don’t throw lures very well.

Just put my $500 deposit down for 2 Salty's that my local dealer got in today. They've been out of stock for 7 months! Can't wait to pick em up & start hitting those shallows & offshore here on the Texas Coast. Total out the door $4300 $200 worth of fishing gear included from Line Cutterz, Including their new Diesel Rods, Fish Nets, Grabbers, Line Cutterz and other stuff.

The shear pin is designed to be the weakest link in order to sacrifice itself to protect the gears of the unit. Those rods from home depot are 1018 cold roll. Much stronger than the 304 stainless that came with the unit.

Great day you had on the canal. Nothing like a striper blitz! I haven't been since 2018 but fished it on and off over the years. I was there in 2017 an insane year! Caught 7 or 8 stripers both trips back then. Two 40 inches 22 lbs each back to back . Still looking to break 30lbs. Anyways, looking forward to getting back down the canal August/September 2022 season. Nice video! Tight lines. Best of luck!

spent 3wks on St. Lawrence River back in '76. Great uncle had home on an island. Was so fun and intimidating as heck for a 15yr old with zero time on bigger waters. Didn't catch much but it was so beautiful and peaceful.

great to see someone fishing the SaltX 6k too. Bought mine as all around surf reel for here in California. Had to relocate to Sacramento (~2hrs east of Ocean) but am minutes from Sacramento river...haven't been able to get out yet but can't wait. Not much experience fishing big rivers (Sacramento river is biggest in CA). Nice shots at several species of salmon, like Chinook & King, also strippers and sturgeon. So the 6k should get a good workout this year, eventually. keep the vids coming, it's appreciated by at least one of us out here in the ether.

I hope it's still going strong for you today. I considered it but decided I'd rather pay the difference and buy a Van Staal. It was very tempting at $400 but I wanted to be sure it would last and be fully sealed. It was just too new for me to give it trust. If they last for others, I may eventually buy one. There needs to be an online outlet for parts for the SaltX. I would rather buy whatever part I may need than have to send it in for service.

It would be going strong if somebody hadn't stolen it. Was gonna make a vid about it but was too pissed off. It's very nice, not sure if it will stand the test of time but I have the 4000 still so I will see if that can survive for a few years.

Just picked up a used one last week and doing pretty much the same as what yours was doing. I have to primer it to keep her from dying lol... choke lever is also quite loose but will see what a good carb clean does. Any chance you have a link for the carb kit you ordered? How has the 40:1 premix worked out for you?

Hey sorry late to the party here. I just added the link to the carb kit but if you search Jiffy Model (whatever your model #) diaphragm kit it should pop up. It's like 10$, hopefully you can get it working! Trufuel is working good, I had it running this year fine as well.

Epic! There's no fish that's more entertaining than the bluefish here in the Northeast. I absolutely LOVE getting into topwater bites with those "yellow-eyed demons", and they are my #1 fish I enjoy fishing for. Their power and aggression are amazing vs stripers of the same size. That clip of the blue jumping in and out of your kayak just goes to show how they can call almost anything food or worth attacking.
@michaelsimko7694
@michaelsimko7694 3 жыл бұрын
Those days when fish are slamming topwater are the best days. I find it so weird how stripers will easily hit spook lures when poppers and pencils aren't working. In 2019 I found a young Herring Gull that was tagged on one of its legs. I Googled info and sent some emails, eventually leading to a certificate of appreciation and all the info about that gull.

I just bought this bed extender from Harbor Freight yesterday and it wobbles so much. On top of that, when I raise the crossbar to its highest setting, it still sits below my tailgate. Not much help if it doesn’t touch my kayak. Maybe adding a pool noodle will help? I’ll have to try before taking it back.
@SaltyMcFogg
@SaltyMcFogg 3 жыл бұрын
I have a pool noodle on mine, it is important to have to protect your kayak. Surprised it still sits low, would be a shame if you can't use it!
@XploreAz
@XploreAz 3 жыл бұрын
@@SaltyMcFogg so I bought an extra fat pool noodle and even with that wrapped around the cross bar, it was still about 2 inches under my kayak. I have a 2019 RAM 1500 (new body) so maybe that is why. I think the beds sit higher on the new body style. Either way, looks like a Boondox T-Bone is in my future. That’s what I get for trying to save some money. Haha.
