Thank you for posing this video. And more importantly, for giving this lecture. My two cents on what Hunglish is. It is Hunglish when someone writes an English sentence or text using sentence patterns that more or less infiltrates from his/her native tongue, in this case, Hungarian. Were s/he to use sentence patterns filtered down from sentences and texts written by native English writers, the sentence would be native pro standard. There are similar other language variants like Gerlish, Russlish etc. We translators can readily notice it: "well this sentence must have been written by a German". Or a Russian. Or a Hungarian. It just feels. Odd sentence patterns. Odd prepositions. Odd collocations: nouns are accompanied by verbs that are no collocations to each another In English. These verbs and nouns may be collocations in German, Russian or Hungarian, they are nevertheless used in conjuction in writing English sentences.
