I bought the boys burgers and they both fell asleep on the way back to Denver, that’s how much they had thrown themselves into mountain biking. A few years passed, and a knock on the door saying my son was dead. Whatever I felt that day in the park pales compared to what hit me at that moment. He’s gone five years this month. What a grinding, cutting sense of loss. Go hug your children!
