I see you had to use puller to push the axle out, is there any trick or trouble getting it back in?
@mikes.garage
@mikes.garage 5 күн бұрын
@@kevinberg2524 Putting it back is much easier. Put the axle back in and then tighten it with the nut back. If there is not enough thread to put the nut, then hit the axle from the other side with a rubber hammer.

I would like to add, that sometimes the new vanos does not go in! When the engine is old, there will be corrosion on the flange/hole, where the vanos valve goes in. So in order to get it done, you need to take a small piece of sanding paper (200) and sand the round hole, so that it is smooth again. Before you put in the new part, you should also remove the new rubber seal from the vanos, and place it into the hole on the engine. Then lubricate the new vanos part and slide it in like pro. Thank me later ;-).

How long does it take for these to seize? My mechanic struggled with taking off if not one of the pinch bolts, then both of them just like this in 2021. I had the ctrl arms replaced back then with cheap eBay knockoffs. They’re toast now so I got a good set from Urotuning of Meyle HDs. Would 2021 up to now be enough for them to seize this much? The car also sat from Jan 2023 to Sep 2024, just recently started being driven.

You do not put copper grease near aluminium fittings as there is a risk of concentration cell corrosion. Put ceramic grease in. It's easier to fit the arms to the rear mounts first and then put them in the hub carrier.
