HAG is not bad on its own, it just doesnt really work on invictus. Its good for sustained damage on cruisers and destroyers which can carry it, especially if there is place for HVD. But invictus is all about burst damage and "delete direction".

Wild that the bigger ones, despite having much better speed and maneuverability, just decide to face this absolute beast head on instead of flanking and attacking from the side and rear.

The invictus is genuinely terrifying for me to witness in my runs since I use a mod to make armour last longer and require complete depletion in a given sector of a ship to start doing hull damage, because it can just outlast my fleets if I don't have sufficient anti-armour. It doesn't need to kill my ships itself, it just needs to wait patiently for my ships to explode from critical malfunctions.

I fight this thing in a Eagle cruiser, and I win. How? I kill units protecting its flanks, then keep bothering it until it decides to turn towards me. Then my onslaught moves in towards now outflanked enemy, finishes the job with a huge salvo of tons of hammers I installed on it, while this brick still tries to decide who to shoot.

If you tired to outnumber this ship with a wolf class ship build, you'd run out of combat readiness before it runs out of hull

I was just playing with a KoL mod today, there's a Lunaria battleship there. It's smaller, faster and has only 2 large ballistic hardpoints instead of 4. And yet, when i pop LIDAR enemy fleet scatters like a flock of pidgeons and/or tries to hide behind my own Star Fortress(high tech stuffed with plasma cannons, btw). What i'm saying is those dorito bois are very brave and/or dumb hovering in front of Invictus like that.

The most any of them did, was Paragon with the two hardpoints. If it had more of those (instead of lasers) it could probably actually deal damage.

High-Tech best tech. You cannot tell me the pinnacle of technology is NOT the amount of pure firepower and armor on the Invictus-Class. Therefore it must be highest tech. Praise Ludd.

Nice 'The Princess Bride' reference. AI Pegasus can work but ya gotta equip it right. Hydra with its 50% more ammo will keep it active longer, and it's pretty effective for the first part of large fights where its mostly smaller ships being fielded. A full Hydra AI Pegasus can hold off waaaaay more than its DP worth, and it tends not to overkill by much. Rather, the problem is more that it shifts its focus to defend itself more than securing kills. But it works out alright. Also you can make your own flagship last longer and be more effective by focusing on targets that actually deserve the 4x MIRV spam. You're in a capital ship. You can hang back and wait for opportunities instead of forcing yourself to do max DPS at all times. Follow your ships that can take care of smaller stuff without expending your finite missile supply. Or swap out an HVD for a Mauler so you can smack frigates and destroyers for free, and take 1x Squall to make up for the lost kinetic damage source. 3x MIRVs are more than enough to erase armor. After armor is gone Squalls are decent enough against hull, especially since shields are still in play until overload, which means less MIRVs into shields and more into hull. And it's fine if the enemy backs away before you can get the kill. It puts them out of the fight for a bit, and next time they're much easier to kill. Again, you have the time. So long as your expenditures of finite resources is efficient, it's all good. Yeah stuff on escort is very derpy. Not very reliable except for just floating nearby on your flanks and rear, and firing at anything in range. I prefer to give rally orders on a location, then they're free to fight as intelligently as they can, even backing way out of their ordered area of operation to keep themselves alive. Escorts....don't have very good survival skills. They love getting in your way when you're trying to kill something, and don't like letting you bodyblock for them when they're about to die. Monitors, carriers and missile boats are about all I'll give escort orders to.

I remeber my first experience with the invictus. I threw everything I had at it and it's armor wouldent even break. If there was a youtube video that is the most similar to that experience it would be that one family guy clip where joe beats up the gang.

I think they need to work on the lore more. I imagine the war with AI was insane I imagine the Invictus was a major player in mankind's survival but there had to be something else like so legendary madman that made it all happen,who thinking outside the box and great sacrafice was able to win. The Remenant are to insanely strong.

its a shame how useless this thing is in reality you arent fighting just paragons and onsloughts, if this thing gets surrounded (it will) it is dead, even though it takes an entire like 4 minutes of shooting it to kill it. also terrible at back to back combat because of needing the armor and hull to be repaired.

I swear Starsector AI is smarter than this, It's just that the THICC BRICC seems to incurr stupidity on its foes. Perhaps the AI thinks it's civilian with the lack of shields? Or maybe when you shunt the ships are like "HA, we won the flux war, time to go all out with our kinetics"

For this sole reason, is why the invictus is the sole ship I actually like.
