I don't remember having to add any tail weight even with a heavier 3S LIPO.

Still using the stock motor. The stock 1806 2000kv motor seems to have very good torque. I kept the stock motor in it after converting to 3S. Works great!

i saw your review on Banggood and bought one of these…what I received was an open box with a smashed plane with no mounting hardware and Bangood is refusing replacement or refund 😭

this was my first purchase on BG. I really like volantex, have like all the 400s, the 500 p51…and now a smashed 750 p51. Seems these direct order from china sites are completely hit or miss. they sure screwed me.

@@americanolounge6572 The problems I've had are not with the vendors but with the shippers. I'm surprised the vast majority of my orders have arrived in good condition, given what the box looks like when it arrives ;-) Sometimes it appears the shipper has done as much as they can to damage the item. This is with domestic orders as well. Where did you order your other planes from?

bought almost every RTF on amazon, every Volantex, literally flying the paint off the volantex p51 500, fly the SU35 you also have a lot. i also purchased a whole line up of Radiomaster gear from Flite Test….also proving a pour decision.

5:22 lessons learned. Always look for props after landing😊. Thats odd the prop came off while flying? 7 grams is a lot of weight😮. Thats a tail heavy plane. Great viewing. Oh yea, Sometime H.Freight carry 2.5g weights... thanks for sharing

Yeah, that's not the first time I've had one of those break-away props come off in flight. 7g IS a lot of nose weight for this size plane and I was surprised it took that much to get it stable. I'll have to look for those 2.5g weights at HF next time I'm there.

love it, and after a wing tip stall and flying it nose first into the ground and braking it in half, all i had to do was hot melt it back to gather and it flys the same as bofore i snapped it in half lol ....top plane and super fun

Yes, I measured the root chord and set the initial CG at 28%. It took a nickel (5g) to get the CG. I'm going to test it one more time with my TX16S. If I see the same instability, I'll try 7g which should put the CG at 25%. If that fails it's definitely a pass for me.

Yeah I agree... I didn't like the way it flew at all... I like my planes to be able to fly stable at low speeds. If someone didn't try it we would never know.😉

Yes, I was surprised that it was that unstable at slow speed even with that much nose weight to get the CG where it should be. I'll test one more time with my TX16S just to make sure.

I just got one of these and asembled it tonite. Cant wait to try it. Ive gotten good with the 400mm p-51 and the me109 so i anticipate good flying with this. I hope they release other ones in the line too

It's a very good airframe so I'm glad you got one. I think when you get proficient with those 400mm Micro Planes you can fly just about anything ;-) I like this airframe so much I just converted mine to 3S Power. Test Flights coming up. Good luck on you Maiden Flight!

You certainly could, although, it would most likely require a DIY motor mount. I just converted mine to 3S....test flights coming soon ;-)

Yes, it has (3) modes and (1) mode is manual mode, no gyro input.

I want to use a Spektrum AR631(AS3X and Safe) - but if I understand this correctly I MUST add a (RED) wite onto each ESC board on the 5V tag - and run it back to the Connector with the Black and white wires, so I have White(Signal) Red and Black for each one - these can go into a "Y" connector and that goes into the Throttle channel on my RX... is that right ? - Thanks

I just needed to pull power from (1) of the ESCs (5v) to power the Gyro, RX, and Servos. Then used a Y-Cable for both ESCs.

Thank you much! It sounds like a good project. The wing inserts just might work. I have the AtomRC Seal Wing which has wing inserts so you can have a 1.1m or 1.5m wingspan and those work very well. Good luck on your project!

It's not so much old vs new design as it is some coincidences of geometry because aerodynamics is not scale invariant and of course EDF jets all operate well subsonic whereas all these jets are designed for supersonic or at least transonic flight. The reasons are essentially wing loading and high AoA performance. The wing strakes and delta wing don't provide that much lift and low AoA but at high AoA you get a much softer stall and much more lift close to stall. Straight wing will be more efficient and give you more flight time but you have to keep it going fast, exacerbating the problems of an EDF. Swept but constant chord wing like the F-86 is great for transonic flight but at RC speeds they give you the worst of both worlds and unless carefully designed with washout at the tips they stall brutally. There's a reason that EDF and even turbine RC like the viper that are not based on any scale model are almost all delta wing with large control surfaces on empennage the or just an all moving tail.

I love these gyros - they work really well! But......i need to operate off a two position switch. Can you tell me if this can be set to 'full gyro' ie limits bank angle and self levels and also wind mittigation or just self levelling (no restricting bank angles)? Im not interested in the other functions and have a flysky transmitter so need to use switch a on the top left for comfort. Any advice would be gratefully received! Thanks as always.

I've seen post that state they have changed the board and protocol on the XK A280. I think the new board provides a port to attach an SBUS/PPM receiver.

Hi i am facing a weird issue concerning the gyro. I have it in channel 5 and it seems to working on beginer mode and on expert but in the intermediate mode it doesn't seem to work, any ideas?

@@stnikou Hum..sounds like it's not detecting the center position of your 3-position switch. I'd check the output on the switch and make sure you see -100 | 0 | +100 on the switch.

@@GroundControlRC well i swap in mixes for channel 5, instead of input stunt mode, i change it to SC button itself and now i have movement also in intermediate mode, but it seems to me the same as the beginner mode i thought only the ailerons are in the intermediate mode not all of them. Also when the stab modes are on either beginner or intermediate the dual rates doesn't seem to work but only in expert mode. And lastly just sting purposes the stunt mode suppose to be on channel 6 according to V761 protocol but it doesn't seem to work also the calibration don't work (moving the sticks down and out)

@ As far as I know, intermediate mode is just less restrictive in the roll and pitch axis. You can't perform rolls but you can perform loops in intermediate mode. For aerobatics other than loops you need to be in Expert Mode or let the gyro perform the roll or loop for you with the stunt button. I've never programmed the stunt button in OpenTX as I just use Expert Mode for aerobatics. If you have less than 100% D/R on the sticks or any radio trim they might not be outputting what's needed to set off the calibration.

Hello, Thanks for all these videos. I bought this plane and I put a sbus receiver on the open port on the card. Everything works well except that I can not have the 3D mode. On channel N°5 I have - 6G mode - 6G mode - vertical mode do you have an indication to give me. Thanks Frédéric

Mine isn't stock anymore so I don't remember how the stock board was setup for modes. Sometimes they put the gyro modes on CH5 and the High/Low Rates on CH6 and sometimes they reverse those. If the Gyro isn't working on CH5, try setting up the gyro on CH6.
