I echo a lot of your sentiments about motorcycles in general these days. There are too many doo-dads and too many complications that detract from the riding and repair/maintenance experiences. I thank you for your honest appraisal of the bike. I found that you were mentioning a lot of things no other reviews have touched on.
@woodtickgreg692612 күн бұрын
@SinnerSince1962 Thank you very much for the kind words. I still love this bike for what it is, not for what it isn't. It is all that I need and nothing more. It brings me great pleasure and puts a smile on my face everytime I ride it. I enjoy tinkering with it and doing maintenance on it. It's kind of surprising how many men my age are drawn to it. Myself a sinner since 1960. Repent.

I just ordered the same windshield yesterday for my 2024 T100. You have a beautiful bike and I like your videos. Just curious, did you have the wheel shimmy before you installed the windshield? I have had the same problem on other bikes and it was caused by not having the torque correct on the fork triple clamp bolts. They could of gotten skewed when you loosened the clamps to install the shield or even by the dealer when they set it up out of the shipping crate. Before you invest a fortune in new tires it might be worth lifting the bike so there's no weight on the front wheel and stress relieve the forks by loosening the fork clamp bolts and the re-torque the bolts to the factory settings by alternating side to side when you do it. I know it doesn't seem like it could cause it but having even slightly different torques on each triple clamp bolt can cause problems. Cheers Kevin
@woodtickgreg692619 күн бұрын
@pamelacorrigan2624 yeah the shimmy has been there since day one. It's a common problem on the bonnevilles. I really do like the windshield. Good advice though on the fork clamp bolts. I don't think my loosening the clamp bolts and re installing them had anything to do with that, but who knows. I did one side at a time and did re torque to spec. I did order new tires for it though but not because of the no hands shimmy, but because the stock pirellis are just not good tires. New tires will go on in the spring and I'll see if it has any effect on the shimmy. I may also look into getting a fork brace also. The shimmy really doesn't bother me, it's only noticeable when I take my hands off the bars. I never feel it even when only one hand is on the bar. Thanks for the comment and the tips, much appreciated. Greg

@woodtickgreg69262 ай бұрын
The burley are holding up well. I did re wax them right away when I purchased them. I have a video on that process. Only thing I don't like about the burley bags is they are a bit fiddley to open and close, 2 buckles and about 6 snaps. But once you get used to them not really a big deal. They are compact and don't get in the way and I like that. Big enough to stuff my textile jacket in if it gets to warm on a ride. Occasionally I do wish they where a bit bigger but not often. I think they fit the look of the bike well. I did a 115 mile ride with a couple of friends yesterday. I had no problem keeping up with them on their big v twins. Lol.

@Jessejensenkohl Thanks for the nice comments. Well here in the states the speed limit is 70 mph and its fine. I do raise it all the way up when I'm on the freeway so I don't get helmet buffeting. But on the freeways I pull it all the way up to get the wind to go over my head and yet I can still look over the top of the windshield. @oilerguy5494 Krown is an odor free oil, it is non toxic and has no smell. You can park it on a lawn after it is treated and as it drips on the lawn it won't kill the grass. Krown advises not to park it on a cement driveway for a week, but I do and it doesn't per.anently stain the concrete. It can be washed off. Also do not get a car wash that washes the underbody as it can wash the oil off. I just get the absolute cheapest car wash in the winter to clean the paint, I don't worry about the bottom of the truck, lol. Get it treated annually and your vehicle will last a long time. I just bought a used rust free truck that will be getting the Krown treatment real soon. I swear by any oil based rustproofing method but the Krown dealer near me in Rochester Michigan is awesome and they do good work.
