A great year for sure... another one just starting up. Happy new year.

I had an opportunity to fly on Concorde from London to New York Would have cost about double - I could have afforded it. Nah. I'll do it another time. Never did. Have thought about it from time to time ever since. There will not be any more "Concorde" misses for me.

I get my daily dose of aviation by watching videos such as those produced by you. I'm 62. Beein interested in aviation for as long as I can remember. Couldn't conceive and didn't have the means to become a pilot. Just picked a reliable income vocation as a mechanical engineer. I encouraged my eldest son. He is a 737 first officer in USA. Finally I thought about stopping work. Then it came to me. I'll work. I'll work as long as I can and use the money to fly. So one year ago (almost to the day), I had my first lesson. Almost completed the PPL. The experience has tranformed my life. I will probably continue on with the training... who knows.

Nice little story. Was your old glider club at 1I5 in freehold by the Catskill mountain?
@wolfherold7760Ай бұрын
Yes, Nutmeg Soaring at Freehold. Back when I flew with them they were first at North Canaan, then at Great Barington and at Candlelight Farms, too.

A side view of the plane would be appropriate! I saw one for sale in the early 1980's - $25K.

I've got to ask, I heard you were flying to Tullahoma. Is that in Tennessee? I live just North East of there & would love to meet you & shake your hand.

Achieving the place of knowing to ask the question is, IMO, more than getting the answer. Thanks for the video.

Wolf, what a great story! Can't wait for the rest of the adventure. I have a close friend who owns a beautifully restored 170B, which I have also flown. Great plane! You have to be very persistent, and thick skinned to finally purchase the airplane you want. I own a restored 1949 A35 Beechcraft Bonanza.

Everyone knows this quote: “Aviation in itself is not inherently dangerous. But to an even greater degree than the sea, it is terribly unforgiving of any carelessness, incapacity or neglect.” So continue to display admirable patience.

I met a couple in 2007 on the Big Island of Hawai'i who met my neighbor in in the 1970's in Anaktuvuk Pass, Alaska a small village my neighbor would fly to every few years in his Cessna. They told me they lived in Alaska for twenty years and were surprised when I asked them kind of jokingly if they Knew where Anaktuvuk Pass was. They looked at each other in befuddlement for a few seconds and asked me how I knew of such a place. Carl Jung calls these instances synchronicities, it's my belief that people with intuition higher in their cognitive function stack experience these synchronicities more., or at least acknowledge them more. I try to make the most of them, and interpret them as best I can like a dream.

Wolf, Thanks for your learned insight! I’m not 70 plus but 60 plus and I love the reference to the energy we gain from moments enjoyed in our past. As a scholar once wrote “Carpe Diem”. Life might be short but we should enjoy and embrace the journey each and every day. Cheers!
@wolfherold77607 ай бұрын
Jack, thank you for your comment. I think the energy comes from the way we view and feel these moments and not allowing the mind to distort them with its own, often dubious, narrative.

A fellow physicist here. I am guilty of looking more in the past than in the future, often with nostalgia. It definitely does not help.
@wolfherold77607 ай бұрын
I don't believe that looking back is bad per se. For me, the goal and the challenge is to leave out the "-algic" part, the pain or regret, and let the joyful aspects of the past guide me in the present and future.

Spectacular 170B, I share your boyhood dream. Now that I am getting older I hope to fulfill that dream one day. I just found your KZbin channel, I discovered the for sale add for your plane and it brought me here. What a great trip. You should do a video on the plane and it's upgrades, it's out of my price range but it's nice to see what's out there, I would enjoy it's story and how you got there. Thanks for the content.
