You can definitely read them as stand-alone. They are pretty good at recapping throughout the series.

Ooooh, I would read THE CRAP out of Wicked Way to Burn.... who is the author? Gotta find it now. The books I have on my immediate TBR are Just Like Home by Sarah Gailey and Haunted to Death by Frank Anthony Polito. Hoping to get some witchy reads in too by the end of the month!

I read A Night in the Lonesome October last year but I'm re-reading this year in a different way.. . one chapter a day starting today Oct 1 and ending on Halloween. that way I'm reading what's "happening" on the same day.

Yea cozy mysteries are real hit or miss. The By the Book Mystery is a good series IMO. It's my favorite so far.

I don't blame you for wanting to get a few more summer-specific reads in! I have been feeling similar, though I'm getting closer to being ready for fall (which is good, because it's in like 2 days). I also know in winter there's going to be a period where I'm dying for warm weather, so I'll probably be reading summer/warm weather books for a week too. Great video! I love the cozy mysteries!

I got the first 3 books of a coffeehouse mystery series by Cleo Coyle at a library book sale. Haven't started them yet. And I have gotten some good books at Dollar Tree over the years. Right now I'm reading The Setup by Lizzy Dent.

I hope you try out some books from Victoria Laurie! They are cozy books but just a bit more mystery. I recommend both her series- psychic eye and ghost hunter.

I like that you read both cozy mysteries and horror. Those are both genres I am getting more into and I feel like they balance each other out! I recently finished the 1st book in the Cape Cod Cozy Capers series. I'm going to continue with it. The author has another series I really have been enjoying (the Country Store series).

A little light hearted mystery and then bam a horror book to bring the edge out 😂 yes, I have the country store series on my TBR as well. I’m about 2 chapters into Murder on Cape Cod as we speak and I’m so excited to see what happens 🥰
