Haha it is a little wild driving on the other side of the road. Looks like you both figured it out fairly quickly. You guys found a really cool freedom camping spot by the water. Love that! The spot and their term for boondocking. Nice to see this series, Tom and Cait. I hope you have a few more videos coming.

So to summarize, if you were to redo again you would have gone with a DC to DC charger instead of the battery isolator which would allowed you to use much cheaper thinner wires and not have taxed your alternator as much your isolator did.

Love this. My girlfriend and I work in the shipping industry, so pretty much 6-8 months a year we are away at sea. For the remaining months we stay in our tiny home/trailer at various campsites in the northeast or we stay at our condo in south Florida. We’ve been looking for a chunk of land somewhere in between that we can keep our tiny home full time with all of its own hookups and permanent deck/patio. Until then, the idea of this permanent RV spot has piqued our interest. I guess my only question is how would we go about finding something like this? Is there a website that has listings for these RV parks with purchasable lots? I’ve never seen anything like this in my limited time looking. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

APC battery specs say you need completely different cut-off voltage at different discharge rates, which is normal and logical. You can't cut-off at the same voltage in the 8A vs 80A test.

I use 1/2” plywood squares under each jack pad. 3/4 might better. I have seen 2x4 or 2x6 lumber split under the weight of a camper jack.

When we went to Ireland, rented a car to be able to move at our pace. I remember when we drove off the rental car lot how nerve wracking that was driving on the other side of the road! You did great! OK, you did an amazing job capturing those glow worms, but not our jam to be in there. EEEkkk. Personal spas? OMG. Loved your use of tiny world. Cathedral Cove is stunning! Great 360 camera work. - Michelle

Every situation is different. LiFePo batteries have two advantages, weight and useable power density. In my case, a 38' Class A RV, neither are a critical limiting factor. When I purchased my 1990 RV in 2020 it came with two Group 8D FLA batteries. In AZ the batteries lasted three years and the heat just cooked them. That and I was not as attentive as I should have been to electrolyte level. I just replaced them with two Group 8D AGMs and three Group 31 AGMs. I also have room for six more Group 31 AGMs that I plan on adding before heading out this summer. This should give me a total of 1,400 AH capacity after the upgrade. The first thing I noticed when going from FLA to AGM is that the FLA batteries are lighter (120 lb vs 165 lb) and the storage capacity (200 AH vs 245 AH). The weight didn't have any noticeable effect on the handling of the RV, however, I did need some assistance replacing them. Before the change, the batteries would be fully charged from the 390W solar panel and floated at about 12.8 at sunset, and by the morning the voltage was down to 11.0, since the replacement the battery voltage in the morning was sitting at 12.5 after a typical night. For my application it just doesn't make financial sense to switch to LiFePo.

After watching this video i realized AGM batteries are still cheaper than lifepo, because on the long run, nothing last forever, while on the short run, they are cheeper off the shelf when you are on a budget. LIFEPO are for those with unlimited budget.
